Teacher's autonomy meaning and factors affecting autonomy, what is not teacher's autonomy, domains of teacher autonomy

  • 4. “Teacher is also an autonomous learner” Just like student teacher need Space, freedom, flexibility and respect

What is it? ● It involves teacher negotiation skills ● Ability to reflect on their own teaching process ● Readiness to engage in lifelong learning ● Their commitment to promote learner Autonomy ● It is closely related to reflective teaching & researcher ● Turns constraints into opportunities for change
  • 7. ● Observation ● Reflection ● Thoughtful consideration ● Understanding the experiences and evaluating for alternatives I’m controlling them If he is not there we would have flew till the sun “Mere absence of Authority does not lead to Autonomy” Teacher Autonomy is not omnipresent attribute of individual teacher. But it manifests itself differently in every teacher & at the same time every teacher perceives & exercise hi/her professional autonomy across different domains

What is not ? ● Independence/isolation: instead involves interdependence, responsibility, mutual support, professional discretion & commitment to the education community ● NOt merely holding accountable for job and reduce responsibility: It is right to take initiative & carry out necessary professional action according to needys ● It is not fixed entity: it is a condition that varies under the situation.
