Our music video conformed to many conventions of music videos such as featuring the band playing their instruments, close-ups of the singer, and visuals that matched the music. It followed Goodwin's six points for music videos which include voyeurism and visuals that fit the lyrics. The designs of the digi-pack and magazine cover were also conventional, featuring pictures of the band and song information, though we ran short on time and couldn't include all typical elements. In conclusion, our music video and ancillary materials mostly used standard conventions to create a typical music video and packaging.
2. Introduction
Our music video mostly conformed to the conventions of music videos. Our
music video also followed Goodwin's six points, such as our music video had
voyeurism, the visuals fitted the video and the visuals fitted the music. Also
our video had conventions of a Pop/Rock video with the type of clothes the
band was wearing and the band being featured in the video. The ancillary
tasks also followed convention with the same design and format on both the
digi pack and the magazine cover.
3. This still is of the band, this is conventional of rock music videos as
most rock music videos feature the band with their instruments.
4. In the music video there is a close up of the lead singer, this is
conventional of most music videos
5. This scene is fast moving which fits with the tempo of the music. So in this
scene the visuals.
6. This shot also fits in with the lyrics, the lyrics talk about vodka and whiskey and
in this shot the people at the party are drinking vodka.
7. This medium shot has a notion of voyeurism as the people in the video
seem to not no that they are being looked at.
8. This shot is a low angle shot, the variety of shots is conventional to music
videos, the variety of shots also makes the music video more interesting.
9. The lighting was also important to our video, it made it look more
professional, we did conventional lighting as we had lights in the
back.
10. This shot is a party scene, the lyrics in the song 'Ain't No
Party' have themes about parties so there is a clear link
between the lyrics and the video.
11. In this shot we have the end of the music video, the music
video we made was liner and this part of the video makes a
simple narrative to the music video.
12. In this shot there is one of the extras from the music video, they
are wearing funny glasses to go with the light heartedness of the
song and music video.
13. Our digi pack is also conventional as it has pictures of the band and the
name of the songs and the band. We run out of time so our digi pack is
missing the record lable and the bands name on the sides of the digi pack.
14. The magazine advert is very similar to others of its type, it has a picture, the title,
the date of the album release and the bands website. We run out of time when
making the magazine advert as we didn't put on the record label.
15. Conclusion
To conclude nearly all our music video fitted in with convention to make a very
conventional music video. We followed and used nearly all of Goodwin's points
somewhere in the video. Also the digi pack was conventional of many other rock/pop
album covers and digi pack even though we didn't have enough time to incorporate
all the futures of a digi pack such as the record label and the title of the album on the
side.
