AFRICAN LIVESTOCK CONFERENCE AND EXHIBITION (ALiCE2014)
Livestock is a very important sector in Uganda and indeed
in the region as an agent of fighting poverty and
undernourishment
The sector provides income for millions of household along
the value chain particularly to rural population
The sector also provides all important nutrients to rural
population like eggs, milk, meat among others
The sector can also be viewed as complementing crop
farming as the crop residue is used as animal feed and the
animals on the other hand provides manure
Thus the impact of any improvement in the livestock sector
cannot be gainsaid
3. African Livestock Conference and Exhibition (ALiCE2014)

Why African Livestock Conference and Exhibition (ALiCE)
To seize the opportunities
Demand for animals sourced food is expected to grow
exponentially in the region due to
Population growth

Africa is a net importer of animal sourced food and

Africa contribute less than 3% of the global trade of
animal sourced foods and less than 10% between Africa
states
