a result of a school of thought which may be characterized as
Neo-Schumpeterians.Among the thought leaders include Christopher
Freeman,GiovanniDosi,andCarlottaPerez,whostatedacaseregardingthe
reciprocityinbetweentechnicalandeconomicchange,aspresentedby
different technologicalrevolutions,including the associated formation
regaregardingadistinctiveparadigm involvedinthetheoreticalanalysisofthe
actualrelationship(Peterson,2003).Perez(2004)suggestsimplementinga
seriesofrevolutionsinthetechno-economicfield,whichisathemeaddedto
thedistinctivebehaviorofproductionandfinancialcapital,respectively.With
the age ofcommunication and information technologies,now reaching
maturitytowardstheendofthetechno-economicrevolutions.

2. The currentfocus ofthe shifts in literature review to a new era in
technologicalprogressobservestheirruptionasitcontinuestomergewiththe
remnantsofthetechno-age.Thisliteraturereviewwillfurtherpresentacase
involvingconvergenttechnologiesinordertobecomethemainfocusofthe
study(Lucas,2010).
Anotherissuethatcomesintopictureisgeographyandtechnology.Onone
hand,thisresearchappealstotheinternationalcharacterofbothTMdiscipline
aswellasthediscourseregardingthissubjectarea.Ontheotherhand,this
studyprojectisbasedinAfrica,forAfrica,aswellasitspeersamidstabigger
groupofotherdevelopingeconomies.Asidefromthefactthatthereisenough
evidencewhichshowsthattheeconomieslacktheabsorptivecapacitytotake
advantageofinternationaltransfersoftechnology(Wilmer,2008),thereisalso
avavailableevidencethatthesouthernpartofAfricaneedstofurtherimproveher
competenceinproduction,aswellasgenerationofknowledgefortechnology
transfers(Hipp&Benson,2006).Asamatteroffact,theentirediscourse
regardingtheDigitalDivideasitisshowninthedevelopingeconomiesa
vindicationofthementionedviews,asshownsufficientlybyLosch(2008).
Ultimately,however,selectingmarketsforgatheringdatahighlydependson
theparticularresearchmodel,thedatacollectionvagaries,aswellasthedata
rrequirements.
ItisKohl(1964)whofirstintroducedtheparadigm,encompassingorigin,
progress,andevolutionofScience.Heisacknowledgedgenerallyashaving
beensuccessfulinformalizingdifferentparadigmsascompetingandevolving
rulesandnormsforresearch,evenifheisaccusedforlosingcontroloverthe
term,andneverreallydefiningitaccurately.Asaresponsetothedebatewhich
followed,hefurtherdescribesthataparadigmisadisciplinarymatrixwhichis
consistofsymbolic generalizations,shared commitments orheuristics,
concconcretesolutionstotheproblems,sharedvalues,andtheso-calledexemplars
(Rompins&Christianson,2002).

3. Whenthisiscombinedtogetherwithmethods,theoryandstandards,allof
thesecomponentsofferresearchersamapthatcanbeusedforresearch,and
directionsformap-creation.EventhoughKohlpresentshisassertionsalmost
exclusively,togetherwithexamplescomingfrom paradigms,naturalscience,
aswellastheirfunctioningwhicharenow consideredasomnipresentin
variousacademicdiscoursesacrossalldisciplinesandscientificendeavors
outsidetheworldofnaturalscience.Thesehavealsobenefittedsignificantly
byparadigmaticoutlinesduringthelasthalfacentubyparadigmaticoutlinesduringthelasthalfacentury(Norton,1989).
Technologicalchangefurthertransformsinputsandoutputsineconomy,
generallyleadingtosomecosteffectiveapproachesinuseorproductionof
servicesandgoods.However,technologycannotsolelybeconsideredasthe
onlyeconomicmeansavailable,withoutconsideringthedifferentlevelsof
technologicalcontrolandknowledgeovertechnologicalprocesses.Asa
responsetotechnologicalcomplexityandprogress,managementhastorefine
itstoolsinordertofurtherunderstandingtechnology.
