2. Why planning a lesson is a problem for
teachers?
The
intellectual
contemplation
that goes into
it.
Figure out
ways to make
the
instructions
clear and
engaging.
They have to
be skilled at
knowing when
to skip
portions of the
curriculum
and add other
parts on their
own.
Differentiate
the content,
pedagogy, and
assessments.
3. Aimless
wandering
and you and your students
may never achieve the
objectives of the course.
You may show up to
teach and find that you
didn't bring the necessary
materials or equipment.
Teaching not related
to prior knowledge.
4. Failure to achieve objectives:
The objective of the lesson does not specify what the student will actually
do that can be observed. Remember, an objective is a description of what
a student does that forms the basis for making an inference about
learning. Poorly written objectives lead to faulty inferences.
5. Needed teaching materials or
equipment not available
The materials specified in the lesson are extraneous to the
actual described learning activities. This means keep the
list of materials in line with what you actually plan to do.
7. The lesson assessment is disconnected from the
behavior indicated in the objective. An assessment
in a lesson plan is simply a description of how the
teacher will determine whether the objective has
been accomplished. It must be based on the same
behavior that is incorporated in the objective.
Anything else is flawed.
8. Design clear, dynamic
objectives.
Create learning
activities based on
the objectives.
Gather materials and
arrange accompanying
enrichment
opportunities.
Plan to check for
understanding.
Determine how to
evaluate learning and
progress.
