I See Red...Or Do I
The power of the infamous RED.
Used across all printed and visual pieces to
express the BIG SALE or DISCOUNT....
yes it is true – but sometimes RED is not the
best color.
Rules are made to be broken – broken by
your gut and what you see as the best way
to clearly communicate that discount to
your customer. Sometimes the background
is in such contrast that you need, no must
choose another color or even use white or
KO as we in the industry refer to it.
If you do choose red – be sure that the
shade of it is as strong as it can be and
reads clearly – my favorite red breakdown is
100m + 100y + 10k which is a 3 color break
and I like the touch of Black added to make
it less cartoonish.
Remember legibility always overrules the
RED rule. If your customer can’t read it
they won’t buy it!
