Meme #1: Remember one of our many roles as a Librarian is to guide our students and teachers to resources to meet their needs. Meme #2 My sharing resources we are advocating that we are available for collaborating with our teachers. Meme #3 Remember, you don’t need to recreate the wheel as INFOhio already has the gears ready for you.
I am building Instructional Partnerships with knowing the basic outline of the new teacher’s curriculum and our district vision with integration of technologies. In addition using my prior knowledge of an veteran teacher, I use this opportunity to show how INFOhio’s resources are also beneficial to sharing with parents at open houses, curriculum nights and open houses.
After knowing more about your audience curriculum needs, start with exploring the many digital resources that INFOhio offers by exploring Teach & Learn or the newest quick search resources – Educator Tools
This an example of one activity I create as I reviewed a few of INFOhio’s resources with new staff. I made it so that they could make notes. I also created a similar activity with my fifth grade students that outlined resources that they could use throught the year.
As in the classroom, its important to provide time to explore resources and apply what they have learned. This also gave me time to answer individual questions and show additional resources that they might find helpful.
Last year I decided to create a SMORE. I wanted something that they could bookmark and use as resources through the year.
As you work on your own to create an individualize resources for your new staff members, consider your target audience, what are their instructional needs or is there a district curriculum need. Then think about how you can meet these staff member and what formats you can use to get them started.
