1. Tango Radio Advert Analysis
The style of the advert is trying to be humorous, I think this because basically the advert has
a guy in it doing a silly giggle which purposively caused by drinking the tango. My guesses
are that this would make the kids who enjoy drinking tango think having a silly giggle would
be a good thing and would be funny and make them want to buy it. The overall message
was to try and make people buy Tango, and being humorous might encourage the audience
to buy the drink. There were 2 voices used during the advert the first sounded like a voice
recording of a woman from a phone saying leave a message which then switched to a man
on the other side of the phone leaving a message about how drinking the Tango drink has
gave him a silly laugh.
The tone off language used on the advert was a jokey type tone but at the same time he
was asking for help, I think they use this type of tone because it was unusual so it will catch
people’s ears because they would be confused what the advert is about. The slogan used
during the advert I think was the silly giggle the man has from drinking the tango, I think the
giggle is the main thing which signifies the advert. Also at the start of the advert a woman
says that the tango website is “well grimy” which I think is a tag line of some sort for Tango.
Throughout the advert the name Tango was mentioned 4 times this is a reasonable amount
in my opinion. The only contact details were mentioned at the start of the advert when the
woman on the phone message box said to visit “Tango.co.uk”. They didn’t need to put any
more details in because tango is sold in pretty much every shop so you wouldn’t need to
know any details where to find one. There weren’t and music used but there was a silly
giggle which was one of the key features in the advert which im guessing was a sound
effect. I don’t think there was anything bad used which could be taken as an offence to
anyone, or a regulation to ARCC.
The main purpose of the advert was to grab people’s attention by how odd the advert was
and then maybe the people would like to buy the product they are trying to sell. But overall
their overall priority was to try and convince people to buy there tango drink. I had mixed
thoughts about the advert I think it was good how different it was and how they didn’t take
it that serious using weird voices and effects. It definitely grabbed my attention and made
me think what the advert was trying to make me buy or do. What I didn’t like was the fact
the advert had no meaning and didn’t make much sense, it was basically just a man saying
how when he thinks about tango he gets a funny giggle not talking much about the drink
they just focused on humour which I don’t think is a good idea in an advert. Also the giggle is
used 3 times during the advert and starts to get annoying especially if you hear during every
radio advert break.
