This week the author researched film theories by Propp, Barthe, Todorov, and Levi-Strauss which provide different views on characters, narratives, and plots in films. By linking each theory to a chosen film, the author gained understanding of how Todorov's theory could help with plot structure, Barthes' theory with developing a narrative code, and Strauss' theory with making meanings evident to audiences. The author also learned basics of plot creation and film structure to make their movie effective, as well as genres, stereotypes, and signifiers important for conveying information to targeted audiences.
