time, giving sufficient notice of any
cancellation and make-up lessons. If the
tutor is reliable, this will increase his/her
credibility.

versed in the subject matter, and

 He/she must feel confident explaining the
subject matter to students, imparting

Understanding
 The tutor must be able to take abstract concepts
and make them concrete and using simple terms
to explain a complex theory. A good tutor knows
that simplicity is essential in imparting knowledge
when students are learning a new topic for the
first time. However, this does not mean dumbing
down the subject matter, but rather using
terminology that is familiar to the students. By
taking the core of the lecture and communicate it
in simple terms, the tutor will be able to make his
lessons effective and memorable.
