Job title: Division Community Mobilization and Safe Spaces Officer (DCMSSOs)
Period: July 2015 to date
Purpose of the job:
To operationalize the project’s community mobilization strategy for early grade reading
instruction at division and district levels, in close collaboration with Government counterparts at
divisional, district and zonal levels.
Reporting To: The Community Mobilization and Engagement Specialist (CMES)
Key areas of responsibility
 With the help of the Division Coordinator support the Grants Manager, Capacity
Building Specialist and the CSO selection team to assess capacity of CSOs.
 With support from the Division Coordinator and the District Coordinator orient the CSO
to their roles and responsibilities in the district.
 Support the Grants Manager to orient CSOs to grant management;
 Establish and manage District Community Mobilization Engagement Teams (DCMET)
in each district within the Division.
 Liaise with District Community Development Officer, District Education Manager,
implementing CSOs/NGOs, Traditional Authority and District Council heads of
departments on the NRP implementation processes in each district.
 Lead in developing work plans for community mobilization and engagement activities
within the Division in collaboration with other implementing partners.
 Build capacity and monitor activities of all District and Zonal implementing partners to
ensure successful and timely implementation of the processes.
 Support key stakeholders at district level, including District Education Office and District
Community Development Office to implement the activity.
 Provide regular reports to Community Mobilization and Engagement Specialist and the
Division Coordinator.
 Contribute to the development of technical aspects of the activity, including the Social
Behavior Change and Communication (SBCC) campaign, foster learning materials and
radio programs, as guided by the Community Mobilization and Engagement Specialist
Program Development
 Document and share success stories and learning from the project.
 Compile and submit reports for MERIT or National Reading Program monthly, quarterly
and biennially.

Job Title: Community Liaison Officer
Period: Nov 2009 – June, 2015
Purpose of the job:
Responsible for all facets of Sponsorship Operations in communities, raise awareness of child
sponsorship among parents, communities and local leaders
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Sponsorship coordinator and below are some of my duties
 Ensuring that the collected information about children and their families are accurate as
required for child enrolment in sponsorship program
 Making sure that awareness is raised around Child Sponsorship Program among parents,
communities and local leaders
 Adhere to Save the Children Sponsorship Policies and Procedures and Child Safety
Policy. Work with the Field Co-coordinator and colleagues to ensure that these policies
are in place
 Making sure that all enrolled children are tracked and immediately reporting any
dropouts, transfers, major illnesses, deaths or other ineligibles
 Ensuring that all enrolled children are participating in sponsorship program activities and
are receiving significant benefits
 Responsible for Child Inventory Management Plan
 Ensure that family application form for each child is completed and that parental consent
is acquired
 Management of correspondence between children and their respective sponsors, ensuring
appropriateness of messages and timeliness in responses
 Collect information necessary to respond to sponsor /Home office enquiries as requested
by the supervisor
 Ensure an Annual Family Update is collected every year for each enrolled child
 Supervise and manage desk officers Community Agents and head teachers in
Sponsorship schools in carrying out all sponsorship operations
 In collaboration with program staff, raise awareness in communities regarding program
participation and community partnership within the Sponsorship Program
 Responsible for communication materials as stipulated in the Sponsorship marketing
manual thus success stories, need based stories, emotional stories, blog posts, etc

program activities in the impact area

iii. Field Officer {Mary’s Meals Malawi} April, 2008 to November 2009
I was responsible for monitoring School Feeding program in the southern region and
planning for distribution in Malawi
Responsibilities
Supervising all District Monitors and providing support as required below were some of my
duties
 Community mobilization and sensitization on the objectives of the program
 Conducting community entry meetings and opening of new schools in feeding program
 Oversee the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the feeding
program.
 Act as the link between District Monitors and Head Office, ensuring that district
Monitors have a good understanding and are up-to-date on the requirement of the
program.
 Addressing issues that arise in the Districts and actively seek support from head office to
resolve issues as needed.
 Supervising technical, administrative, and financial management in the District.
 Training volunteers and community members on the aspects of program delivery and the
use of program equipment.
 Ensure smooth coordination of activities in the districts.
 Ensuring that stocks and items provided by the organization are used in a proper way.
 Weekly planning on activities to be done.
 Logistics arrangement during deliveries.
 Responding to donor request on time.
 Participating in planning and budgeting meeting
 Reconciliation of quantity dispatched, quantity used and plan for next month.
 Data collection and entry into database
 Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local leaders and NGOs at
the district level.

iv. Community Development Facilitator (COOPI) October 2006 to February 2008

Worked for COOPI in a project called “Sustainable Social Economic Empowerment Program
(SSEEP)”. which mainly focused on the sustainable way of empowering communities, socially
and economically through Adult Literacy using REFLECT approach.
Responsibilities
I was responsible for management of REFRECT activities at the district and community level by
ensuring collaboration with Ministry of Gender and Women Empowerment and all stakeholders,
the following were my duties
 Sensitize the community in REFLECT projects
 Assist in selection of REFLECT Circle committees and facilitators
 Training of REFLECT circle committees and facilitators
 Carrying out participatory community assessment in the REEFLECT circle
 Mobilizing and supporting REFLECT circles in designing and implementing
development activities and also drawing some lessons from the activities
 Linking communities to other stakeholders i.e. Lending institutions
 Collaborating with other extension workers in REFLECT
 Monitoring and Evaluation activities of REFLECT.
 Supervising REFLECT circles and facilitators with their supervisors
 Facilitate management of Livestock pass on program
 Provide teaching and learning materials to REFLECT Circle
 Monitoring livestock purchase and kraal construction verification
 Training business management to REFLECT circle members
 Monthly requisition of honorariums of facilitators and supervisors and paying them
accordingly
 Attending district Executive Committee meetings as required
 Monthly, quarterly and annual reporting on the above activities to the project officer.
v. Research Assistant {Let’s chat (University Of Malawi, Collage Of Medicine And
University Of Pennsylvania) }2005 (4 Months)
Worked as a Research Assistant on a survey about behavior change of the communities in
Mchinji District TA Mkanda
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Coordinator and below were some of my duties
 Changing the questionnaire from English to Chichewa
 Questionnaire status (asking the communities about the sexual behavior, economic
situation, marriage, HIV/AIDS pandemic and religion).
vi. Food Monitor {COOPI-MALEZA} October 2004 to April 2005
Worked in the project called Protracted Relief Recovery Operation (PRRO) funded by WFP

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Coordinator and below were some of my duties
 Identification and registration of beneficiaries
 Keeping up to date data of beneficiaries i.e. orphans, Chronically ill patients and other
vulnerable children in the area
 Assist families keeping OVC to develop and adopt interventions leading to self
sufficiency
 Organizing, coordinating and supervising of the voluntary food distribution committees
in each Food Distribution Point (FDP)
 Logistical arrangements during food distribution
 Reconciliation of quantities dispatched, quantity distributed and undistributed stock
 Reporting to the Coordinator of any problem and discrepancy eventually arising during
targeting and food distribution.
 Participate to the post distribution and on site monitoring exercise.
Livelihood Activities
 Mobilization sensitization and organization of the community livelihood
committees
 Facilitate the livelihood activities i.e. nutrition, reforestation, soil conservation etc.
 Facilitate trainings for the beneficiaries on the above activities through
demonstration class sessions and day by day support.
 Supervise all agriculture activities in the area i.e. irrigation and communal garden

Save the children International Job Title: Community Liaison Officer Period: Nov 2009 – June, 2015 Purpose of the job: Responsible for all facets of Sponsorship Operations in communities, raise awareness of child sponsorship among parents, communities and local leaders Responsibilities Reporting to the Sponsorship coordinator and below are some of my duties  Ensuring that the collected information about children and their families are accurate as required for child enrolment in sponsorship program  Making sure that awareness is raised around Child Sponsorship Program among parents, communities and local leaders  Adhere to Save the Children Sponsorship Policies and Procedures and Child Safety Policy. Work with the Field Co-coordinator and colleagues to ensure that these policies are in place  Making sure that all enrolled children are tracked and immediately reporting any dropouts, transfers, major illnesses, deaths or other ineligibles  Ensuring that all enrolled children are participating in sponsorship program activities and are receiving significant benefits  Responsible for Child Inventory Management Plan  Ensure that family application form for each child is completed and that parental consent is acquired  Management of correspondence between children and their respective sponsors, ensuring appropriateness of messages and timeliness in responses  Collect information necessary to respond to sponsor /Home office enquiries as requested by the supervisor  Ensure an Annual Family Update is collected every year for each enrolled child  Supervise and manage desk officers Community Agents and head teachers in Sponsorship schools in carrying out all sponsorship operations  In collaboration with program staff, raise awareness in communities regarding program participation and community partnership within the Sponsorship Program  Responsible for communication materials as stipulated in the Sponsorship marketing manual thus success stories, need based stories, emotional stories, blog posts, etc

Field Officer {Mary’s Meals Malawi} April, 2008 to November 2009 I was responsible for monitoring School Feeding program in the southern region and planning for distribution in Malawi Responsibilities Supervising all District Monitors and providing support as required below were some of my duties  Community mobilization and sensitization on the objectives of the program  Conducting community entry meetings and opening of new schools in feeding program  Oversee the overall planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the feeding program.  Act as the link between District Monitors and Head Office, ensuring that district Monitors have a good understanding and are up-to-date on the requirement of the program.  Addressing issues that arise in the Districts and actively seek support from head office to resolve issues as needed.  Supervising technical, administrative, and financial management in the District.  Training volunteers and community members on the aspects of program delivery and the use of program equipment.  Ensure smooth coordination of activities in the districts.  Ensuring that stocks and items provided by the organization are used in a proper way.  Weekly planning on activities to be done.  Logistics arrangement during deliveries.  Responding to donor request on time.  Participating in planning and budgeting meeting  Reconciliation of quantity dispatched, quantity used and plan for next month.  Data collection and entry into database  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with local leaders and NGOs at the district level.  Supervising District Monitors in accordance with Mary’s Meals policies  Report the reconciled report from monitors to the Field Manager  Monthly financial and activity reports iv.
