2. Site analysis
ØIs the information about the properties of the site such as
location, size, topography, traffic conditions and climate.
ØHelps analyse the features and incorporate them into
design.
ØHelp consider any future developments, or changes to
the sites surroundings, such as a change of roads, or
other significant building developments within the area.
3. Site characteristics
ØDistinguishing physical characteristics of a site, including:
ØShape, access to the site.
ØSoil and ground conditions – sandy, clayley soil ,rock formation.
ØNatural Features
ØDrainage work
ØTopography of the site - valleys, ridges, slopes..etc
ØVegetation – landscaping, greenery, trees, open spaces.

features of the site such as trees, rocks,
soil, sea, ponds, topography..etc
ØLandscape features that were created
by natural processes, for example,
rivers and mountains.

of museum’s site
ØSite is located Bahrain bay.
ØBahrain Bay is a coastal land which is
located in the north in the heart
Bahrain’s capital city Manama.
ØSite has sandy, clayley soil.
ØRock aligned along the coast line.
ØThere are shallow waters from the sea
which forms the bay.
ØThere are no vegetation.
ØSite has a sea front on the west side.

Ø Topography is the study of the land
surface and water features of an area.
Ø It’s the arrangement of the natural and
artificial physical features of an area
and lays the underlying foundation of a
landscape.
Ø Basically refers to mountains, valleys,
rivers or craters on the surface.
Ø These maps can also show you whether
you will be traveling uphill or downhill
on a particular road or trail.
7. Topography’s four characteristics:
ØElevation: Above sea level and relative to other regional
elements.
ØSlope: Steepness percent or horizontal to vertical ratio.
ØAspect: Orientation of the face of the slope.
ØLandform: Shape, Profile, Mass, Volume.

museum’s site
ØElevation: The site we are analyzing is
above sea level and surrounded by
residential and commercial buildings
which is located at the main road.
ØSlope: It has a negative concave
slope.
ØLandform: A rectangle shape almost
merged with a triangle shape.
