1. Dear Hiring Manager:
I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering and have had extensive
experience in the manufacturing of commercial, medical and military electronic devices
for both OEM and contract manufacturers. This includes direct experience with SMT,
PTH and mixed-technology PCB, electro-mechanical assemblies and final unit builds.
I currently hold the position of Component Engineer at Kimball Electronics. The
companies that I have worked for prior to Kimball include, Teltronics, Linvatec, Philips
Circuit Assemblies and Florida Design & Engineering, where I was a Contract Engineer
at Unisys (formerly Sperry Univac). In these companies I have worked as an Industrial
Engineer and a Manufacturing Engineer. While at Philips Circuit Assemblies I also
served as a Quality Engineer before the Quality and Manufacturing Engineers were
combined together into one department.
In these roles I have provided technical support to all levels of the company including
production, purchasing, contract sales, design engineering, test, documentation and
quality control. My responsibilities have been to create production processes, program
assembly equipment, procure the necessary tooling, design fixtures, assist in the design
for manufacture, participate on cost reduction and process improvement teams, develop
assembly labor time standards for current builds and estimate labor times for quoting on
new contract customer jobs. I have also interacted both directly with the various contract
customers and indirectly through program management as my current company policies
so indicated.
My experience has included working to the use of IPC standards, ISO requirements, UL,
ITAR, Mil-Specs and FDA (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices.
To perform my job responsibilities I have worked with BPCS, SAP, Microsoft Office,
AutoCAD, CircuitCAM and Checkpoint.
I am interested in continuing my career as an Engineer within electronics manufacturing
where I can best utilize my education and training as an Industrial Engineer as well as my
past experience as a Manufacturing, Quality and Component Engineer.
Sincerely
Leonard Phillips
Industrial Engineer
