SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS
Reports to: ASQE / Purchasing Management / Divisional Quality Director
Supervises: May supervise other Supplier Quality Engineers
BASIC FUNCTION:
Coordinates supplier development activities with assigned suppliers. Leads advanced product
quality planning activities with assigned suppliers. Responsible for potential new supplier
assessments, supports in the selection and development of new suppliers, resolves supplier
design, gauging, manufacturing, assembly and packaging issues. Conducts launch readiness
reviews with suppliers to determine and ensure their production readiness prior to start-of-
production. Works actively with suppliers’ in cost reduction and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Acts as coach/mentor and project liaison ensuring Dura’s requirements are clearlycommunicated
and understood.
SCOPE:
Any of the Dura plants and suppliers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Evaluates supplier development plans/programs and recommends opportunities for improvement..
2. Implements strategic Supplier Development plans/programs approved by corporate quality and
purchasing through effective control and management of APQP and Supplier Development activities.
3. Leads APQP with selected preferred suppliers utilizing Dura’s defined supplier quality tools e.g.
eAPQP application, global supplier quality assurance manual, launch readiness review assessments,
policies and procedures etc.
4. Supports selected engineering changes and supplier/location change activities from an advanced
supplier quality engineering perspective, providing technical assistance whilst working in conjunction
with Dura project/plant cross-functional teams.
5. Leads lean manufacturing initiatives with selected preferred suppliers.

6. Obtains, maintains and provides key supplier performance data to management and project/plant
cross-functional teams and interfaces with these teams on a regular basis.
7. Demonstrates a high level of integrity, business acumen and commitment towards achieving corporate
objectives and goals.
8. Ensures legal, regulatory, health, safety and environmental standards are adhered to.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Completes other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).
2. Direct customer interface for quality related issues.
3. Will be required to travel to various supplier locations and Dura plant sites.
STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Relevant Degree in a scientific field, preferably an electrical, metallurgy,
mechanical or engineering technology. Abilityto communicate well with various
functions and levels within the organization. English language skills.
Experience: Three to five years experience in supplier development, quality engineering or
product engineering is preferred. Proven project management and automotive
industry experience. Strong computer literacy skills. Interpersonal skills to work
effectively with others. Ability to conduct business in a professional manner with
respect to confidentiality and integrity. Proficient presentation skills. Ability to
organize and plan work. Identify system constraints and eliminate them. APQP
knowledge & experience.
Additional education may be substituted for experience and vice versa.
Working
Knowledge: Strong knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes in one or more of
the following commodities is preferred, electrical components/motors, wire,
strand and rope, rubber, stamping, polymers and moulding. Good understanding
of APQP/PPAP and launch readiness review requirements. Assignments require
a good working knowledge of procedures, operating methods and managerial
practices mainly related to purchasing, quality and manufacturing or a
combination of education and experience that develops technical skills to perform
routine assignments with proficiency.
