One of our major goals at PS 41 is to foster a climate that nurtures, challenges and
inspires students to come to school daily. Everyone in our school community puts
forth great effort to create an environment that encourages regular attendance.
Recent research has found that regular attendance is critical to school success and that
even a minimal number of absences during the school year can have a serious impact
on a student’s ability to achieve. Children ages 6-17 in New York City are required
to attend school on a full time basis. 90% attendance rate is one of the requirements
for promotion to the next grade.
We will have periodical attendance and lateness meetings with parents and students
for those who fall below the 90% attendance rate.
We will also initiate a yearlong incentive program for supporting excellent
attendance.
Incentives:
• 100% class attendance announced each day by 9:00am
• Most 100% attendance days in a month by a class = gift for each child of
the class
• 100% student attendance per month=picture on bulletin board next to the
Main Office
• 100% student attendance for the fall term =gift and celebration
• 100% student attendance for the spring term =gift and celebration
• 100% student attendance for the school year = gift and celebration
• Most improved attendance for the fall term= gift and celebration
• Most improved attendance for the spring term= gift and celebration
• Most improved attendance for the entire school year= gift and
celebration

• 5 Graders who have the top attendance rate between 99% - 100% for
the grade for the school year = 1 extra 5th Grade Final Assembly ticket
