2. What is an IT Professional?
 According to Jidaw Systems (2013), “IT professionals create,
operate, maintain, and program computers. An IT professional
must have the skills and knowledge required to carry out
specialized tasks in a recognized field of IT.”
 Characteristics IT Professionals should have :
 Knowledgeable
 Continually learning
 Effective and efficient communications
 Making informed decisions
 Dedicated
 Improving and Influencing people around them
 Using skills to best benefit the organization

3. What is IT Strategy
 IT Strategy is a set of objectives that an organization tries to
achieve with their IT programs. IT Strategy can cover angles of
technology management such as cost, human resources,
hardware and software, vendors, and risk management (U.S.
Office of Personal Management, 2014).

 Value creation
 Planning
 Mission statement
 Cost effective
 Business Drivers
 Flexible in terms of changes

4. What is IT Policy
 IT Policy is guidelines within a company to correctly use IT
tools and resources in order to support company’s goals and
missions in the best possible way (MIT, 2013).
 Characteristics of IT Strategy
 Regulations
 Unique to the company
 Defining scope, responsibilities, and accountability
 Security concentration
 CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability)
 Frequently updated
 Eliminating mistakes

5. What is IT Governance
 “IT Governance is to understand the issues and strategic
importance of IT, so the enterprise can sustain its operations
and implement the strategies required to extend its activities
in the future (IT Governance Institute, 2007).”

 Minimizing risks
