Why do we need
MAINH?
People aged under 65 who reside
in nursing homes/aged care
facilities/supported residential
services have become a “forgotten
generation”. We are out of sight, out
of mind!
In Australia there are
approximately 6000 young
Australians who are forced to call
aged care home.
In the Geelong area there are
approximately 120 young people
living in residential aged care
facilities.
This situation is totally unacceptable
and we must raise our voices as
one to create the systemic change
required to develop futures with
hope.
MAINH aims to...
1. Assist people aged under 65 who
find themselves stranded in aged
care to regain control of their lives
via:
Information provision
Peer and mutual support
Advocating to change systems
2. Raise community awareness via:
Media coverage
Community forums
