2. Primary Audience:
Our primary audience is young people 16-25. This is because the song
lyrics would most relate to them, or they would feel they most relate to
them, and the songs our artist would release would help our audience
with their problems, like this song could help them with overcoming their
‘demons’. Both genders could be part of our audience because of it being
relatable but, we feel more females would like it due to the sound of the
song and the fact that our artist is female adding to it being relatable.
Secondary Audience:
While a younger audience would be our core audience and would make up
the majority we feel that people 25-35 could also be apart of the
audience because some of the lyrics are mature which means that they
could relate to the songs.
3. Using the UKTribes website (http://uktribes.com/) we have
found that our core audience would most identify with the
Leading Edge and Alternative tribes and in particular the
Scenesters, Young Alts and Activists which are described as:
4. Uses and Gratifications:
Diversion – Our audience would use media as a way to escape from everyday
problems and their own routine, as a way to relax and have an emotional release.
Personal Identity – While the audience would use our artist’s music as a way to
escape from reality, we think that they could relate to the lyrics and therefore would
use media as a way to find themselves within the song or gain insight into oneself.
Integration and Social Interaction – Through looking at the current audience of
Halsey through Tumblr, we saw that they use her music as a way to identify with
others and it enables people to find a common ground in order to connect with other
people and friends.
