1. PRELIMINARY EVALUATION SHEET
Quality of Summary My honest evaluation- what
was done well and what was
not of good standard?Tryto
cite specificexampleand
moments from your video
Examplesof strategies, good
practicesand skills that my
group and I will put into place
and develop to ensurea main
productionof high quality.
Quality of holding a shot steady The quality of holding the
camera steadywas okay but
this needs to be improved for
the final task.This is because
the natural shake of the hands
and cameracould give off the
wrong code he the audience
and then they might become
confused and misread the
story line.
We could use the tripod more to
makethe shots more steady
and in focus.
Quality of the framingof shots The quality of the framingof
shots was alright, there was a
lot of idle space that could
have distractedsome of the
audience fromthe action.
Makesure that everything is
positioned right by doing test
shots and watching itback to
see everything is in place.
Quality of shooting material
appropriateto the task set- i.e.
the content of your filmpre and
post editing was consistent with
the exam directives
We stuck to our story boardall
through out which made the
filmprocess a lot faster.
Makeanother story boardand
stick to itand all times.
Quality of selecting mise-en-
scène including colour, figure,
lighting, objects and setting;
The quality of mise-en-scene
was poor because there was a
lot of stuff in the background
that were giving off the wrong
signifier. The lack of lighting
mademany of the scenes out
of focus and blurry. This was
giving the wrong kind of focus
which could get the audience
to focus on the wrong thing.
Next time, look back a scenes
and makesure there is the right
mise-en-scene so the audience
get the right message.
Quality of editing so that
meaning is apparent to the
viewer
I think we edited the scenes
quite well. For example,
extracting sound fromother
scenes to makesure that there
wasn’t any background
sounds that distractedthe
audience fromthe purpose of
the shot.
Makesure we record more
backgroundsound and that we
makesure all scenes don’t have
any distracting sounds in the
background(one scene had a
bit of talkingin it).
Quality of using sound with
images andediting
appropriatelyfor the task set;
The beginning of the clipwas a
bit disjointed as the sound from
the corridor didn’t continue till
when the door was opened (we
changed location). To
overcome this we copied the
sound from the corridor scene,
Addsome music in the
beginning to addto the mood
we are trying to set.
2. and out it over the sound from
when he opened the door. This
gave the beginning continuity.
We didn’t put too many
extravaganttransitions as it
was just the opening
sequence.
Quality of positioning and
movements of actors
I think we recorded the
movement of the actors well.
All actors were placed in the
frameand we used the rule of
thirds. However, we could have
trackedour actors better by
takingaccount thatrecording
into the day light (recording
facingthe sun) will give the
scene a differentunintended
lighting.
The trackingof actors should be
a lot smoother. Change the
exposure to makesure the
actors can be fully scene.
Watch recordings back to make
sure everything is in the right
place.
Quality of group planning,
meeting targets, organization
Our planning, organization and
meeting targetswas at a high
standard.We planned what
room we were going to record
in, in advance. We also made
sure there was a camera
booked for us to use. We
arranged with the actors what
time to meet, even though one
didn’t turn up.
Next time we can model the
organisation and planning from
this task.Maybe we could
consider gettingmore
committedactors to actto
ensure we don’t waste time
waiting around.
Group dynamics i.e. how did
your group work together
I think we worked quite well as
a group and we took every
one's opinions into account.
Also we allhad positions that
we felt comfortablein and
positions we felt we could excel
in.
