stages?

2. The internet- during the design and planning phase the internet was a key tool to me
this is because it allowed me to go onto sites such asYouTube and video playback to
look at different adverts to give me ideas and inspiration to apply to my own work.
By being able to do this it made the job of creating an idea for my adverts a lot easier
as I was able to take some different elements from different adverts such as Lynx,
Axe and Dove and combine them to create the idea of the adverts we have made.
Not only did the it help me think of the ideas for the adverts it allowed me to begin
to understand how to go about shooting an advert, which would be representing a
deodorant. By watching different deodorant videos I was able to piece together a
way of filming the adverts that would be good enough to send the message across of
the deodorants properties as well and the brand, scent and also how to keep the
target audience interested in the product. As well as videos of advert we were able to
get pictures of already existing deodorant cans, this was helpful to me because it
gave me something to refer to when designing the logo for the company as well as
the design of the deodorant can.

4. Cameras-To film and take picture to use on our animation story boards I
used a small DV camera, these cameras had many advantages but also
disadvantages in some place.The advantage of these cameras were that of
them being so small they were easy to transport between each shooting
location this was extremely handy for my adverts as they were shot in many
different far apart locations. Another Strength is the cameras good quality
function such as zoom and photo option this helped a lot in the creation of
my animated story board during the designing phase.The disadvantages of
these small portable cameras is that the microphones on them are very
weak and unable to pick up on far off voices this meant we couldn’t shoot
conversations from any kind of distance. Another weakness of these small
portable cameras used is that when the zoom function was used the quality
of the video recording was greatly reduced giving an unprofessional look to
the films.

5. Apple Macs- the Apple Macs were extremely friendly to use especially to
people who have never used them before, and were extremely easy to
understand how to work.The apple macs were also useful as they had the
software on them needed to edit out films/adverts this software was called
iMovie. Importing onto the Apple Macs was quite easy and simple as all
that was need was to plug the camera into the mac and import the videos
onto the Mac this did in fact take a while as it took a long time for the mac
to fully download all the videos from the camera.

6. IMovie- I movie was the software on the apple macs which I used to edit the adverts I
had filmed on the portable cameras. I movie was a good piece of software, extremely
user friendly and easy to use. This allowed me to edit my work to a professional
standard without all the professional equipment and tools. I movie also allowed me
to create my animated storyboard with the pictures I took on the portable cameras
this was very helpful to me on deciding if the film would work. However iMovie did
have some limitations in aspects such as its transition functions as they were very
limited and were hard to apply in the correct position also you were only limited to
one transition per slide which made me unable to produce a certain part of my
adverts. IMovie also lacked in applying music in the correct positions and being able
to fade it in and out this also prevented me to apply music to certain parts of my
advert.

7. What I would do differently
If I could do the course work again I believe that I would use a wider range of
source from the internet to get a better idea of how I want to create my
course work, I also believe I would have spent more time trying to learn how
to use the macs proficiently before starting to put together my course work.
I would also get more information on how to use I movie to a good standard
before editing my coursework as this would enable me to edit to a higher
standard
I would also allow myself to become more familiar with the camera I am
using before begging to film the coursework as this would result in more
control over the camera and better quality shots.
