BYK-1640 is an affordable, polymer-based and VOC-free defoamer for many different aqueous systems. It is an excellent alternative to mineral oil-based defoamers.
2. Mineral oil-based defoamers are widely used, mainly in applications in which
price is a key criteria. Negative side effects such as separation tendency,
odor, environmental aspects and the often lacking approvals for direct food
contact mean that the market is looking for affordable alternatives.
Today, polymeric defoamers are the standard key technology to fulfill the
strict regulatory requirements.
