1. What kind of media institution might distribute
your media product and why?
The type of company that would distribute by media product would have vertical
integration. This is because vertical integration allows for production, distribution and
execution (PDE) to be controlled by a single company in order to increase the power of
the company in the marketplace.
NME has a very similar genre of music to Moloko, because of this I think IPC would be a
good media institution for my magazine to be distributed with. NME is one of the
magazines that they publish and is also very popular around the country, something that I
would want Moloko to be.
IPC has the ability to create content for multiple platforms, across print, online and tablets.
IPC is the UK's leading consumer magazine publisher and engage with 26 million UK
adults, whom are the target audience for Moloko. From this 26 million they engage with
almost two thirds of UK women and 42% of UK men which is also relevent to Moloko as
Moloko aims at both genders. In additon their 'award winning portfolio website reaches
over 25 million users globally every month meaning not only will IPC be able to promote
Moloko to UK consumers but also consumers from countries outside the UK.
I believe there is a gap for Moloko in IPC as they currently only cater for one music
magazine, NME, so Moloko could add a different outlook on the indie style of music for
their customers.
