Main Skills
As a Senior Estimator/Estimator, my role encompasses preparation and pricing of all aspects
of a building contract tender, which covers:
pricing of equipment, labour costs, and all trades’ commodities (e.g. facades,
brickwork, plaster, timber, mechanical and electrical requirements, decoration,
flooring, fixtures and fittings and equipment)
preparing sub-contractor enquiry documentation
evaluating sub-contract tenders and assisting with procurement
providing quality contractual information to enable a correct final price to be quoted

using MS Office software packages, particularly Excel
preparation and presentation of all relevant information for tender submission.

Pricing Commercial and Residential: Colleges and Tesco stores ranging from £5m up
to £50m.
Achievements:
o Won Blackburn shopping centre – part refurbisment of existing and part new
build, worth £32m.
o Won Hemsworth Tesco store, including a new junior school and playing
fields, new library, and bus terminal – worth £15m.

Pricing groundwork tenders for road construction, offices, retail developments and
colleges up to a value of £1.5m.
Achievements:
o Won Darlington eastern corridor road - £1.5m.
o Won several retail developments in the area.

Pricing Dry lining, Screed, External Render and Sto Therm Cladding up to a value of
£1.5m.
Achievements:
o Won Beehive @ Darlington, Sto coloured render - £250k.
o Won Middlesbrough arts centre, screed throughout - £150k.
o Won Jesmond Dene @ Newcastle - internal refit - £500k.
July 2004 – Oct 2005 Frank Haslam Milan (Sunderland) Estimator
Priced ‘Very Special Homes’ scheme for Sunderland Housing Group/ Your Homes
Newcastle to a Decent Homes Standard, including new kitchens, bathrooms and
Windows and associated works.
Achievements:
o Won contracts - estimated costs were in the region of £20m, with more
phases to price in the future.
4. August 1999 – June 2004 Darlington Borough Council (Tech Assistant - Estates
/ Estimator)
Pricing Internal and External Revitalisation projects to a Decent Homes Standard,
which included internally new kitchens, bathrooms and all associated works,
externally new fences front and back, patio’s, hardstands, edging kerbs and lawn.
Value of a typical scheme was circa £2m per phase.
Achievements:
o Trained by Head of Estimating at DBC, and given small works projects to
estimate
o Re-measured schemes with the client’s quantity surveyor on a weekly basis
for the monthly valuation and agreeing architects instructions to be included
in the valuation total.
o Priced housing maintenance repairs through a Schedule of Rates document,
including Brickwork, Joinery, Plastering, Roofing and Decoration.
Nov 1990 - August 1999 Darlington Borough Council (Bonus Surveyor
/ Estimator)
Evaluating weekly timesheets from all trades involved with revitalisation schemes
and calculating the bonus due to each operative.
Re-measuring of random claims against the BOQ’s and, if found extra to contract,
issue a variation order to be signed by the client’s representative on site.
Pricing footpath crossings and hardstands for vehicle access on private and council
dwellings.
Sept 1977 – Nov 1990 Cleveland Bridge & Engineering Co Ltd (Cert
Engineer)
To ensure every item of steelwork had the appropriate documentation required for
delivery to site, as established in the specification and drawings. The package of
documentation would have to be signed off by the certifying authority i.e. Lloyds
Register and the Client.
