FilmReview
It was hard for me to chose a single favourite film as I love so many different genres. However, I believe
‘Deadpool’ directed by Tim Miller, who also directed ‘Terminator 6’ and many animated films such as
‘The Gopher’, encompasses a wide enough variety of genres whilst still being an incredible film suitable
for many people, and making it my all-time favourite film. Deadpool is an unconventional,
comedy/action/ superhero/ science fiction film that also includes romance, making it suitable for a wide
range of audiences.
Ryan Reynolds who plays Wade Wilson / Deadpool is,in my opinion, the perfect actor for this role as he
has an extremely similar sense of humour to the character, as well as having played a superhero role
before (Green Lantern, which he mocks in Deadpool) he has also performed in romance films such as
The Proposal as the main love interest. I believe this allows him to bring the character to life in its truest
sense and it is conveyed well to the audience who are happy with the authentic and comic faithful
portrayal of the character. Personally, I love the way Wade Wilson and Weasel (T.J. Miller), his best
friend, interact, especially in the scene where they decide on the name ‘Deadpool’ as they also break the
fourthwall andreference the franchise.
Morena Baccarin who plays Vanessa, a sex worker and Wade’s fiance, is portrayed as a strong female
character who is not a damsel in distress as most female love interests are. Vanessa was one of my
favourite characters in the film, for this reason; she stood against the cliche of a woman who relies on

Francis Freeman / Ajax, the villain of the film was played by Ed Skerin, who is responsible for curing
Wade of his cancer and giving him the ability to heal from anything (both a blessing and a curse, as this
means he can never die), but he is also the reason that Wade’s appearance reflects “the stuff of
nightmares”. Wade seeks him out to reverse it but Ajax disappears and Wade discovers there is no way
to restore hisoldface and decidesto
2. It was released on February 8th 2016 (February 12th in America) and distributed by 20th Century Fox;
Marvel Entertainment, Artisan Entertainment, Kinberg Genre, The Donners’ Company and TSG
Entertainment were all involved in the production of the film. I watched it for the first time with my
friends on October 30th 2016 at a friends house on the night of her birthday. For many of them it wasn’t
the first time they’d seen it but for me it was, so all the added details (“Easter eggs”) were pointed out
to me, which only made it better. Deadpool was also the film that first attracted me to superhero -
action films and drew me into the ‘Marvel universe’. As I was with my friends I was already immersed in
a really good atmosphere, and watching it again always reminds me of this, making Deadpool not only
hilariousbutalsouplifting.
