1) Describe the overall topic of your Senior Project.
The overall topic of my Senior Project is to plan/fundraise an event that will benefit a charity. The
money collected will be done so by have a Day Camp with fun activities for children.
2) What is your previous experience in this area of study?
My previous experience in this area of study is that I have worked several events in my
neighborhood, Woodmont Golf and Country Club.
3) To what career will you connect this project (required)?
The career that my senior project will be connected to is a Social Director or Planner.
4) Describe what you are proposing to do for your Product step-by-step and in detail. Write on the
back of this sheet if necessary.
The charity that I will be donating to once I have collected all the money will be the Justin Charity
Bear Fund. My process will be first to book a few days at Cherokee Hall, which is located in
Woodmont. The months that I will try to book a date in will be January or March. After that has been
completed I will come up with some fun activities that the children will be able to do. This will either
be a camp that will last one day or a few, it depends on how many days that will be available to use.
The charge for participation will be 5 dollars per child. This amount may increase in admission if the
number of children attending is not sufficient. I will spread the word of my camp through the school
news, the neighborhood newsletter, and if I can manage the county newsletter. Also, I will be setting
up some donation cans around the school to gather a few extra donations. I will then send all the
donations or money collected to New Jersey, where the charity is located. With the money that I send
they will be able to build many new teddy bears for children that are in need of some love. These
children are unfortunate is multiple ways, with this Senior Project I will be able to touch the lives of
child in desperate need for attention.
5) How is this project a “learning stretch” and a challenge for you?
This is a learning stretch for me because I have never planned an event this big before. I have
worked at many events such as these, but I have never experienced what it is like to plan one
correctly. I think that with this project I will be able to learn how to plan an event that will give me
experience for this job field.
2. 6) What are your estimated costs for completing the Product, and how will you fund these costs?
The estimated cost is about $500. I will be paying for it myself since I have a job, and I will most
likely get discounts on some of the things that I will need because I am a former employee as well as
being a resident at Woodmont Golf and Country Club.
7) Who have you chosen (or are considering choosing) as your Project Facilitator?
I have chosen Elaine Patankar as my Facilitator.
8) What is this person’s expertise in this field?
Elaine Patankar has had 20+ years of event planning experience, including profit and non-profit
sectors. She is the most qualified person that I know for this position.
