About the Centre for Research
Centre for Research is functioning from the inception of Anna
University on 4th
September 1978, offering research programmes in
different branches of Engineering, Technology, Architecture and
Planning, Science & Humanities and Management Sciences leading
to the award of Ph.D. degree. Faculty members are actively pursuing
interdisciplinary and socially relevant research in thrust areas with
state–of–the–art equipment in addition to teaching, consultancy and
extension activities.
The Centre is looking after the recognition of Departments of various
affiliated Engineering Colleges and Industrial Units/R&D centres to
do research with this University. Around 5000 teaching staff/experts
are recognized as supervisors by the Centre for guiding research
scholars. The number of Ph.D. awardees of Anna University from the
inception (1978–2022) is 17,340.

Programme Outcomes
At the end of the Induction Programme, research scholars will be
able to:
• define ‘research’ in the true sense of the term
• identify research questions / problems that can be investigated
systematically
• review relevant literature to understand the research problem
• evaluate different methods of data collection and analysis
• demonstrate effective writing skills essential for research papers
• apply appropriate research methods suitable for the problem
statement
•analyze the approaches available before selecting the right
framework
Instructions to Participants
This programme is for research scholars admitted in July 2022
session to the four campuses, Constituent Colleges and Affiliated
Institutions of Anna University. The programme will be conducted in
hybrid mode. The research scholars of the four campuses of Anna
University (CEG, ACTECH, SAP, MIT) must attend the programme in
the venue in physical mode. Attendance is mandatory on all three
days. Other scholars must attend the programme in the physical
/online mode. Accommodation will be arranged in the student’s
hostel on payment. The scholars are advised to watch the videos of
the previous Induction Programme available in the Centre for
Research website using the link

There is no registration fee for the programme. All the scholars
