I would like to take this opportunity to provide a letter of recommendation for Karen Waddell. Karen has
worked for me in as a production analyst and as a cost reduction analyst over the past six years and
during this time I have come to appreciate her commitment to perform at a high level. Karen has
excellent communication skills and is capable of leading major projects. She has received extensive
computer training. Lean manufacturing training, and has completed the course work for a Lean Sigma
Greenbelt.
As a productions analyst she was responsible for coordinating changes in production levels on several
assembly lines. These changes consist of updating the work instructions for up to 70 employees and
ensuring that all of the work stations, fixtures, and work tools are available in time for the new
production rate to take effect. Coordinating this kind of change takes someone who is highly organized
and able to clearly communicate what needs to be done. Karen excels at this kind of activity.
In her capacity as a cost reduction analyst she is responsible for working with suppliers to develop and
implement cost saving ideas into the WOW database. Her key deliverables are to assist in conducting
84 cost saving events in order to generate $26 million in WOW submissions. Through March of this
year the Valve Analysis group has held 53 events and generated over $13 million in submitted WOW
ideas. This position requires a person who is able to work with external suppliers and make sure that
they understand our internal processes.
Karen is a person who can be trusted to finish any task that she is assigned with a minimum amount of
Supervision. She has developed her communication skills and technical abilities to the point that she
will make a fine addition to any work team. I would not hesitate to offer my recommendation for her
and feel that she will continue to perform at a high level with any organization she is associated with.
