TEACHER & CLASS INTRODUCTION
READING IS AN INTERVENTION CLASS/LAB THAT WILL HELP STUDENTS IMPROVE
THEIR READING SKILLS AND ALSO GIVE THEM THE REINFORCEMENT THEY NEED
TO HELP GET THEM READY FOR THE END OF THE YEAR ASSESSMENT. STUDENTS
WILL BE IN THE SAME CLASS FOR TWO HOURS EACH DAY. ONE HOUR WILL BE
DEVOTED TO TEACHING READING STRATEGIES AND THE OTHER HOUR WILL BE
SPLIT INTO THREE DIFFERENT STATIONS: COMPUTER TUTORIALS, SMALL GROUP
LEARNING, AND SILENT/INDEPENDENT READING.

• IF YOU ARE ABSENT, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING YOUR ASSIGNMENT AND HOMEWORK FROM THE
MISSED ASSIGNMENT’S FOLDER.
• IF YOU ARE SICK AND WILL BE OUT OF SCHOOL FOR SEVERAL DAYS, PLEASE HAVE YOUR PARENT TO CONTACT

• HOMEWORK WILL BE GIVEN ON MONDAY-WEDNESDAY. HOMEWORK IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS.

CLASS PROCEDURES
1. WHEN STUDENTS ENTER THE CLASS, THEY SHOULD GO DIRECTLY TO THEIR SEAT AND BEGIN THE
BELL RINGER.
2. A CLASS MONITOR WILL BE DESIGNATED EACH WEEK TO TAKE CARE OF ALL CLASSROOM DUTIES
SUCH AS PASSING OUT PAPERS AND SHARPENING PENCILS.
3.STUDENTS WILL GET PERMISSION FROM TEACHER BEFORE SPEAKING OUT OR LEAVING THEIR SEAT.
4. STUDENTS WILL MOVE TO CENTERS QUIETLY AND AT THE DESIGNATED TIME.
5. STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE THEIR TASKS IN AN ORDERLY MANNER.
4.THE CLASS MONITOR WILL PLACE ALL TRASH IN THE GARBAGE AT THE END OF CLASS.
5.STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED BY THE TEACHER BY ROWS.

  • 2. MEET THE TEACHER • I AM MRS. KARANETRIA GRAY-SMITH. • I AM A WIFE, MOTHER, TEACHER, AND STUDENT. • I AM A GRADUATE OF COAHOMA COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL. TEACHER & CLASS INTRODUCTION READING IS AN INTERVENTION CLASS/LAB THAT WILL HELP STUDENTS IMPROVE THEIR READING SKILLS AND ALSO GIVE THEM THE REINFORCEMENT THEY NEED TO HELP GET THEM READY FOR THE END OF THE YEAR ASSESSMENT. STUDENTS WILL BE IN THE SAME CLASS FOR TWO HOURS EACH DAY. ONE HOUR WILL BE DEVOTED TO TEACHING READING STRATEGIES AND THE OTHER HOUR WILL BE SPLIT INTO THREE DIFFERENT STATIONS: COMPUTER TUTORIALS, SMALL GROUP LEARNING, AND SILENT/INDEPENDENT READING.

ASSIGNMENTS & DUE DATES • ALL ASSIGNMENTS ARE DUE IN CLASS ON THAT DAY. • PROJECTS WILL BE GIVEN WITH THE DUE DATE ON THE DATE GIVEN. • STUDENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TURNING IN THEIR OWN WORK. • IF YOU ARE ABSENT, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR GETTING YOUR ASSIGNMENT AND HOMEWORK FROM THE MISSED ASSIGNMENT’S FOLDER. • IF YOU ARE SICK AND WILL BE OUT OF SCHOOL FOR SEVERAL DAYS, PLEASE HAVE YOUR PARENT TO CONTACT THE SCHOOL TO GET YOUR WORK. • HOMEWORK WILL BE GIVEN ON MONDAY-WEDNESDAY. HOMEWORK IS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS.

Student will create a behavior modification plan 4. Contact Parent 5. After school Detention 6. Office Referral *** Serious offenses will result in an immediate referral to the principal’s office. (arguing/fighting, profanity, or disrespect towards the teacher 1.Be on time and prepared for class. 2.Adhere to the dress code at all times. 3.BE RESPECTFUL: Raise hand and wait to be recognized. 4.No eating or drinking. 5.Do not touch or take anything that doe not belong to you.
  • 9. CLASS PROCEDURES 1. WHEN STUDENTS ENTER THE CLASS, THEY SHOULD GO DIRECTLY TO THEIR SEAT AND BEGIN THE BELL RINGER. 2. A CLASS MONITOR WILL BE DESIGNATED EACH WEEK TO TAKE CARE OF ALL CLASSROOM DUTIES SUCH AS PASSING OUT PAPERS AND SHARPENING PENCILS. 3.STUDENTS WILL GET PERMISSION FROM TEACHER BEFORE SPEAKING OUT OR LEAVING THEIR SEAT. 4. STUDENTS WILL MOVE TO CENTERS QUIETLY AND AT THE DESIGNATED TIME. 5. STUDENTS WILL COMPLETE THEIR TASKS IN AN ORDERLY MANNER. 4.THE CLASS MONITOR WILL PLACE ALL TRASH IN THE GARBAGE AT THE END OF CLASS. 5.STUDENTS WILL BE DISMISSED BY THE TEACHER BY ROWS.

CLASSROOM REWARDS • WEEKLY CLASS MONITOR: RESPONSIBLE FOR TAKING ROLL, TAKING UP PAPERS, CLEANING ROOM BEFORE DISMISSAL, AND HELPING THE TEACHER. • BIRTHDAY CLUB: BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION FOR STUDENTS • STUDENT OF THE MONTH: STUDENTS WILL NOT BE CHOSEN ACCORDING TO GRADES BUT LEADERSHIPS SKILLS. • ALL STUDENT OF THE MONTH RECIPIENTS WILL BE PLACED IN A RAFFLE FOR THE END OF THE YEAR RAFFLE. • ALL HONOR ROLL STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE SOME FORM OF REWARD.
