Based on the density of vehicles the traffic lights schedules their timings

2. PROBLEM STATEMENT:
• As the vehicle population is rapidly
increasing day by day, the cities are facing
huge traffic issues. We know how a traffic
system work in current days. Even though
there are no vehicles on the green side at
the junction, a vehicle on the red side has to
wait till the given time. This system has a
drawback of traffic delay. On an average
most of the junctions in the cities and towns
facing this issue

• Raspberry pi
• LEDs
• Bread board
• Connecting wires

6. WORKING
• At the junction the vehicles coming from different directions may face traffic issues.
• By image processing technique we can capture the video of number of vehicles
coming in different directions.
• By connecting raspberrypi we can get the count of vehicles in different directions at
the junction.
• Based on the count obtained from different directions the traffic is cleared as per the
maximum count of vehicles .
• The vehicles are sent away in decreasing order of the count.

8. SOLUTIONS THAT WE PREFER:
USING IoT:
 Collection of traffic data using array of Sensors.
 Calculation of average count of vehicles at a junction.
 Based on density on the roads the lights are flickered to green high to low
count
 i.e. high traffic road gets the signal first then the next dense traffic and so
on..

9. ADVANTAGES
• Optimizing traffic inconsistency
• Reducing air pollution
• Reducing noise pollution
• Priority traffic control

10. DISADVANTAGES
• Climatic changes may affect sensors sensitivity
• A bit costly method
