Show Verified Name Strings 9,972,029 The number of unique and verified name strings. A verified name is one that has been resolved against a name authority (NameBank, Catalogue of Life, etc).

NAME FINDING Biodiversity Heritage Library uses Global Names Architecture's Global Names Recognition and Discovery (GNRD), a taxonomic name recognition algorithm, to search through all of the texts digitized in BHL and extract the scientific names. Searching for a name will return a list of all the individual pages where that name occurs.
