Media Question 4
1.
2. YouTube is an online video based media sharing
website; and was one of the main online products
that I used in order to conduct my research and
planning. Ultimately, song choices from the combined
use of YouTube and our own personal iTunes libraries.
After making this choice, we then continued to use
YouTube to continue our research into our influential
music videos and looked extensively into live
performances. We watched videos of rap artists to
gain inspiration for our own videos. We also used
YouTube to upload our final music video.
The only problem we came across while using
YouTube to conduct our research and planning is that
there was not a video that exactly fitted most of our
influential idea and this forced us to tweak our ideas
and come up with the music video we have now.
3. Blogger is a free online platform in which we use to publish
all of our coursework on to a digital/online presence. By
doing so, it allows us to keep a back log of all of our research
and planning as well as all the information about our
influential music video choices. This is useful as we can edit
any of the posts at any time. but it also provides a much
easier way for our teachers to view all of our work quickly
and in one place. The ability for both teachers and peers and
potential audiences to leave feedback on any of the posts is
also helpful as it enables them to give us feedback on what
we can improve to make our posts the highest standards
possible.
The only problem we encountered while using blogger is that
it does not process videos very well and we have had to use
YouTube to post our videos that will not process in blogger.
4. Adobe Photoshop & Final Cut Pro: I used Adobe
Photoshop mainly to create my Digipak and Advert.
However, I also used this programme to create mood
board and present my digipak analysis work on,
creating more presentation pieces as opposed to just
posting the text onto the blog. In photo shop I used
basic text, colour and shape manipulation skills in
order to achieve my works. I downloaded a template
for the Digipak from Disc Wizards online, and used
this as the base for the pack. I then used texts, shape
tools and the colour picker to create the majority of
my Digipak and adverts.
The only problem we encountered while using
Photoshop is that it is unable to layer some pictures
and so we had to be careful with the pictures we
decided to use in Photoshop.
5. In order to make this entire process easier we used a
number of smaller items, for example when filming we
used tripods and stands to steady the cameras for a
better quality shot. We used our iPhone's to access
YouTube and other online resources when conducting
researching and planning. When filming, we used an
iphone to film me singing
The problems we encountered while using our Iphones
to film and access YouTube is that sometimes the
phones would run out of battery very quickly and also
the phone may fail to boot YouTube properly.
6. For the most part we used each of these pieces of technology and kit
individually in order to complete the process of making the ancillary
texts and piecing together our music video. However, it is how these
products worked together and made the process much more simple than
it could be. If me and Liam wanted to change anything from a blog post
on Blogger to a section in the video, we could be online in seconds and
we would always have our footage or products with us due to the
portability of the memory sticks and SD memory cards. It would not have
been a hardship to have to carry the cameras at all times either. To
summarise, the whole process was enhanced for me and liam thanks to
the advancements in technology.
Of course its true that we encountered while using technology as
sometimes it did fail us and make us tweak our plans due to this but
overall technology really helped us build and create an effective music
video.
