2. Music video Synopsis
The video tells a story that is not fully explained and kind of obscure using the enigma code (Barthes), but the
general themes throughout the video suggest the theme of time moving too fast and the idea that we take it
for granted. The Narrative is the main focus of the video, as we follow three main characters during three
different time periods. The music video will represent the main male characters youth through flash backs
during his time reminiscing on his past life. However, there will be occasional shots within a montage that will
show many locations and scenes of the actors outside of their acting role as well as of the main characters
old family photos, in comparison to present day, and create a sense of nostalgia. The specific memories that
will be shown will details his late teenage years and early adult life. It can be interpreted that perhaps the
performer is singing on behalf of the main male character as the lyrics are interconnect to the plot of the
visuals, below, as evident of; "Time really moves fast, fast, fast, fast,". Later he then gets ready for work with a
smile on his face possibly being content with how his life has turned out despite feeling to have taking it for
granted. The subtle nature of the narrative means that a wide variety of people can relate to it and interpret
it in their own way. The ending shot is of him driving into the distance with a luxury car possibly being the
reason he is content, ending the video on a high note as the lyrics state "What happens next? A story to be
continued, yeah"
3. Song lyric
[Chorus]
I been living fast, fast, fast, fast
Feeling really bad, bad, bad, bad
Time really moves fast, fast, fast, fast
Better hurry up and get in your bag, bag, bag, bag
I wear Dior, not a fad, 'ad, ’ad, 'ad
I know all these niggas gettin' mad, mad, mad, mad
My hand on my trigger, I’ma die with respect, yeah
Fucking with my money, you'll get dealt like that, yeah
[Verse 1]
I took too many pills, count up the bills, uh
Molly in my cup, I can't tell you how I feel, uh
Oh, last call
Oh-oh, it's gnarly
Every day I be counting up, counting up the blues
Gotta win sometimes when you always lose
I get high as a bitch, still the same dude
I was back then, and now I'm lost and confused
[Verse 2]
I go through so much, I'm 19 years old
It's been months since I felt at home
But it's okay 'cause I'm rich
Psych, I'm still sad as a bitch, right
I don't want nobody to think that I'm an asshole
I don't try to be mean on purpose, I promise
My mama taught me better than that, I'll be honest
I blame it on the drugs and this life I'm involved in
[Pre-Chorus]
I ain't see it coming (I ain't see it)
I ain't see it coming (I ain't see it)
But it still came (Yeah, yeah, it still came)
I'm talkin' 'bout life, ayy (Talkin' 'bout life)
[Bridge]
Elevate, elevate, elevate myself
Now I'm on the ground, on the ground, haven't been myself
But it's okay, it's cool, won't push the issue
What happens next? A story to be continued, yeah.
5. Type of genre - Thematic
Performance in a Thematic music videos:
• In the video we see the artist giving money to
the natives.
• Various shots of the streets and the natives
dancing, playing sport etc...
• Relating to the core theme of, despite the
natives coming from a poorer 3rd world
country, they will always remain happy, positive
and have 'spirit' as referred to the song.
• I also wish to incorporate strong
visuals within the music video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBgF6JrWaO8
I am using the clip for "Spirit," taken from Hus' acclaimed
Common Sense matches the song in terms of energy and
inspirational value.
Thematic music videos:
• I also wish to incorporate thematic
shots in my music video as I feel like it
will add energy into my shots as this
will show my actors enjoying and
having fun whilst filming.
6. Type of genre – Narrative
In this music video by the London rapper known as 'Kiico'
we see him tell a story mostly through his visuals.
As a young boy we see him to steal from a corner shop and
from there we fast forward to him giving back money to
the shop owner.
The visuals of London shops and locals are accompanied by
the lyrics "L-O-N-D-O-N" really showing the regional
identity of the song.
I also wish to tell a similar flashback type story in my music
video while incorporating visuals and locations that are
resonant with the lyrics.

7. Type of genre – Symbolic
https://youtu.be/CkUu7GBuxkk
In this this music video the artist uses a lot of
symbolisms to tell a message through his visuals
and lyrics.
He does this through use of lighting and mise en
scene.
Even the thumbnail is a skull in the sand which
implies long lasting death.
I also wish to tell a message through my
visuals using lighting and different symbolisms.

9. Juice WRLD – Fast
• "I been living fast, fast, fast, fast
Feeling really bad, bad, bad, bad
Time really moves fast, fast, fast, fast
But hurry up and get in your bag, bag, bag, bag"
These lyrics reflect the theme of my music video which is the theme of 'time
moving too quickly and not having enough hours in the day so to live life to the
fullest.'
• "Every day I be counting up, counting up the blues"
This lyric further follows the same theme of time and how limited it it is in a
humans life.
10. Intertextual links.
• I plan to have intertextual links to police brutality and gang violence as well as
racial implication with the activates of some of the characters actions within the
plot of the music video.
• Shots of police cars will be incorporated as well as a group of young men to
imply gang activity.
• I also plan to have some scene of implied violence between the young men in a
group.
11. Representation
• I will mostly be representing the early adulting community through the contents
of my visuals. (17-22)
• Hebdige theory states that modern media represents
the youth as fun/youth as trouble. My music video will tell the story of a man
looking back at his early life reminiscing on the past, this will show how he
made money (implied illegally) this will represent young people as the
troublesome which is a common stereotype.
