Captain America vs The Hunger Games
Nowadays, there are innumerable science-fiction films being released all around the
world .These movies not only satisfy the demand of the consumers but also surprise the
world with what the existing technology is able to produce. My favorite science-fiction
films are Captain America and The Hunger Games respectively. In this essay, I am going
to contrast the differences in production, characters personalities, story line and
authenticity between these two movies.
Firstly, every movies have their own production. For instance, Captain America and
The Hunger Games are directed by Joe Johnston and Gary Ross respectively. However ,
there are also different in their budget costs which is $78 million for Captain America and
$124 million for The Hunger Games.
3. 1 Beside that, the character whom I admire most is Katniss Everdeen in the movie-
The Hunger Games, who is played by a famous actress Jennifer Lawrence. In the movie,
she played a role as a eldest sister of Primerose Everdeen , whose courage and
perseverance touched me deeply. All the casts in these movies starred as characters with
very different personalities. For example, in Captain America, Steve Rogers (Chris
Evans) was a patriot who strove to protect his country regardless of the situations.
Despite the side effects he was going to face, when the organization tried to bombard the
USA , he was self-sacrificing enough to risk his own life to fight with them. Beside that,
Steve Rogers was also full of sense of justice, he always helped his friends out when they
were in hazard. When his partner, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) was beaten by
Bucky Banes, he quickly threw his shield towards the enemy so that he was unable to
fight back. On the contrary, Katniss Everdeen who volunteers to take his youngest sister’s
place in the Hunger Games from District 12 had impacted me more . The way that she
was always full of love and encourages her teammate who named Peeta Mellark to stay
strong when his leg was badly injured from his fight with Cato.

On the other hand, a good story line is also very important to a movie. Let’s cut to the
chase, the storyline of Captain America is mostly about the war. In Captain America,
Bucky Banes was originally partner of Steve Rogers during the World War II but
unfortunately he was announced dead during that time and was secretly adopted by a
terroristic organization. Bucky Banes was then controlled by the organization to deal with
Steve Rogers. Although Bucky Banes had attacked Steve Rogers many times and had
destroyed one of the city in the USA, Steve Rogers still tried to advise him to return to
4. the right way. Steve Rogers was equipped with a shield made by vibranium-metal alloy, it
could nearly defend him from all the attacks from the enemies. As we known that Steve
Rogers has a pinnacle human strength as he was enhanced by the super soldier serum. His
body condition, speed, durability and function were always at the 100% peak of human
potential. In contrast, The Hunger Games is more realistic. The movie is about a
competition which selected youths trying to hunt down each other in order to survive.
Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) was an excellent hunter whose sharp instinct
always saved her in chaotic moments. Peeta Mellark became Katniss Everdeen’s
teammate during the Hunger Games. When the game began, all the youths spared no
effort killing others. One night, when Katniss was resting on the tree, she was shocked to
find out that Peeta had teamed up with the Career Tribute, a tribute who was trained since
young to compete in the Hunger Games. Followed by Katniss’s leg injury, she was lucky
to meet a young girl named Rue from Distinct 11. They came out with a perfect plan and
decided to work together to achieve the mission. However, Rue was killed by another
tribute and Katniss had no choice but to cover her body with flowers. Since then, Katniss
and Peeta continued the game in a team. As time passed, they became more familiar with
each other and managed to kill the Mutant Wolves which was engineered by the Capitol.
Lastly, they won in the 74th
Annual Hunger Games.
At last, I would like to discuss the authenticity of both movies. Captain America which
is a science-fiction film is definitely less realistic comparing to The Hunger Games. Most
of the parts were made up to attract viewers, for example, in the history of World War II,
Steve Rogers-Captain America did not exist. Also, no human being can endure 800lb and
5. run 4km in less than 3 minutes. Compare to Captain America, the plot in The Hunger
Games is more realistic. It shows how the tributes suffer to survive, finish their mission
and how teammate helped each other out in time of difficulties. Nonetheless, it inspires
people to cherish what they have and love the people around them.
In conclusion, although there are many differences between these two movies, both of
them are said to be ones of the most famous english movies. I have leaned a lot from both
of these movies and I am inspired by the characters in the movies to be a better person.
