Introduction
Our Element in Natural and Built Environment (ENBE) final project is all
about “The future city Representation”. This project is divided into two
parts which contain 20% individual work and 20% group work. We are
required to investigate and examine the ancient cities, present cities and
future cities. It will help us to understand the components and elements of
a city. In the future city, we should have to focus on the facilities,
infrastructures, the needs of the people and how it will sustain by itself in
the future.
Cities are the highest form of social organization which the intricacy of
the transportation, business centre, sport events, food distribution,
educational system, housing area, road system, land usage and others need
to be considered.
For our task, we are required to imagine ourselves as a mayor of the “X”
city. As a mayor of the new city, we need to plan a new layout for the new
city. In the plan , we need to include some important items such as the
geometric shape , pattern , form , zoning of the city , population , social
issues , transportation , networking , climate change consideration and so
on.

Definition of the city
A city is an everlasting and large community for human to live in while a
town is a small community. Moreover, a suburb is a community located
outside a city and a neighbourhood is a small community consists of the
people and buildings near home. City is actually the highest form of social
organization, it includes road system, building laws, housing, educational
system, land usage, business centre, market, transportation and sanitation.
What make a city?
 Must have basic public transportation such as buses and cars.
 Must have enough basic infrastructure such as traffic lights, highways,
bus stops, parking lots, bike paths and more.
 The population of the city must be up to standard.
 Water, food and electricity must be supplied to the people.
 It was composed by many unique buildings.
What make a great city ?
 Safe and efficient public transport.
 Provide a quality public space for walker to gather.
 Provide bike paths for the cyclists.
 Build some well- known green buildings.
 Provide a good quality leadership.
 Using and buying renewable energy as power sources.
 Provide some solar transportation to decrease pol
 Provide a perfect security measures to the people.
 Provide a smart energy policy.
 Provide a multipurpose and full exploitation development.
 Collect all the products which can be recycled.

Master plan of Tianjin Eco-city
In planning principle, it can be divided into three parts which is the
transportation planning, land-use planning and green and blue network
planning.
 Transportation planning– Green transport is the main point of Tianjin
Eco-City. The purpose is to increase the amount of people by using
public transport and non-motorised such as bicycles, walking and other.
 Green and blue network – Tianjin Eco-City planned with green and blue
network. The aim of it is to provide integrity living and quality workplace
for people.
~ 16 ~
 Land-use planning – Tianjin Eco-City also planned to be close-knit of
land uses .The government also provided a local and centralized facilities
for people to satisfy their needs.
 What future city are you concentrating on?
The city that I am concentrating on is the city of Tianjin Eco-city.
 What makes this a significant city and what are the details?
Tianjin Eco city is a significant city because it is going to provide advanced
techniques, harmonious, environmentally-friendly and resource-efficient
to the residents.
 What is the conclusion about the city?
Tianjin Eco-City is a good example for our next generation to build their
future city as it provides a harmonious space for people to live in.
 What are the information or element that can be used to your future
city?
The information that I can use in my future city is providing a beautiful,
comfortable, full of infrastructures and wonderful place for human to live.
Also, the use of solar energy is definitely a good way to lead us into a
more sustainable environment. It can absolutely provide a very
harmonious space in my future city.

Geometric Shape
The geometric shape of my floating city is a circle shape .There was a
lot of different shapes combined together and formed a big circle .The
reason that chosen this geometric shape is I thought circle is bigger than
other shapes. It can contain many buildings and looked loose and
comfortable.
The main focus of the city
The main focus in the city can divide into three important areas. There
are recreational areas, commercial areas and residential areas.
Commercial areas are the most important area in the city as it provide
many employment opportunities to some unemployed man to reduce

their heavy burdens .Recreational and residential areas also very
important because human can’t live without this two areas .When they
felt stress they can got to the recreational areas to release their stress.
Transportation
In order to solve the problem of air pollution, I had decided to provide
electrical and solar energy transportation in my floating city as it’s very
environmental and also not exhaust the nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxide and
carbon dioxide. However, they also can ensure the health of the people. I also
provide some railways in the city so that they can save the time and reach the
destination as fast as possible.

Conclusion
After few weeks of researching about the urban planning and design, I
realize that it’s very hard to be a urban planner as it was a lot of things need to
consider and also a very challenging project to go.
In this final project, I’ve learned how to create a good city and acknowledge
what the citizens need. On the other hand, while planning a city, we have to
take care about the green technology and green space into the layout of the
city so that we can ensure that the people can live under a good environment.
Lastly, we should have to keep our city clean and keep away the activities
that harm to our cities so that we can provide a good environment to everyone.
