This document compares the films Divergent and The Hunger Games. Both are set in dystopian futures where society is divided into factions or districts based on human attributes. In both stories, teenagers must participate in an annual competition where they fight to survive. The main female characters, Katniss and Beatrice, are brave volunteers who stand out from others. Ultimately, both heroines must use their intelligence and skills to defeat the oppressive government and protect their communities.

Compare between ‘Hunger Games ‘ and ‘Divergent’
Movies.
Both stories are plunged into a futuristic era with a
science fiction genre/background with a lot of
adventures. The story of Divergent starts in a futuristic
dystopian Chicago not different to the Hunger Games
which is launched in a dystopian nation of Panem in a
post apocalyptic future, where the population is split
into troops. The must strive to survive and enhance
their faction.
The population of both movies are classified due to
their league, human virtues, potential, attributes,
personality and their human virtues and also
sometimes due to their origins. Similarly in Divergent
the community is divided into five factions, firstly we
have the Abnegation for the selfless followed by the
Amity for the peaceful, the Candor for the honest, last
but not least we have the Erudite for those who are

3. intelligent and finally the Dauntless for the brave which
was joined by the fresh Beatrice which is the main
female character and also Four who is among the
senior of the clan and also the other main character of
Divergent. Once upon a time likely in Hunger Games
same concept is used. The society is split into twelve
districts namely District 1 to District 12. In both world
the remainder are the poor with no status and
privilege.
The splitting up of each member of the society is due
to a certain age. In the concept of the Hunger games
the boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 must
take part in the Hunger Games, a televised annual
event to represent their tributes and gain respect and
privilege for them. Different staging but same concept
in Divergent when the children reach the age of 16
they are subjected to a serum-induced psychological
test which will recommend their best suited faction.
From this process they are allowed to choose any
faction due to their result.

4. The mission in both movies is consisted to be fearless,
brutal and show a deep sense of patriotism to their
clan. Those who does not meet those high
expectations are expelled from the faction or
sometimes are killed mysteriously. The most
interesting part of both movies is that their lives are
like a game, whether to win for honor or die trying.
Correspondingly in both movies there is a caste system
starting with the poor and factionless to the sole
survivor rewarded with fame and wealth and the
senior leaders.
Furthermore to recap what is going on in Hunger
games, those who survive and win the games are
rewarded with fame and wealth and gain honor for
their district. On the other hand those in Divergent
those who work hard and contribute honestly for their
clan gained respect and privilege among the rest.
Comparably both female characters in both movies
show a deep sense of perseverance, fearlessness and
brave which make them stand out of the rest. Likely
they are always volunteers like in Hungers Games

5. Katniss Everdeen the sublime female actor volunteers
herself to take her younger sister’s place to be part of
the inexorable and merciless games. In addition to
Divergent the gorgeous Beatrice make her volunteer
for the first step of his integration to the clan of
Dauntless to jump from a tall building into a dark hole.
Powerless and unequipped the whole population is
under the entire control of the dictatorship regime.
Those communities under the Divergent world are
dictated by the force of the government who has the
capacity and right to control and manipulate the
society. For those who are classified as Divergent are
considered as threats to their existing social order as
they can think independently, this can make the
population raid and win over them. Much the same as
in Hunger games the dictators with the collaboration of
the higher grade people are in permanent struggle to
demoralize and marginalize the residents to prevent
them from social uprising.

6. Last but not least after watching the whole movies we
can figure out that even the stories are distinctive,
moreover the concept as elaborated above are alike.
Starting from a particular futuristic era with different
faction, some struggling to get out of their poverty,
striving for excellence to gain power, status and
wealth. A world where they are not afraid to put their
life at stake.
In the last mission to the end of the game the suspense
and intensity of the adventure take another level
where both heroes from both movies should use their
exceptional trump card with their marvelous
knowledge and intelligence to win over the devil
power, protect their clans and sole themselves as
heroes.
Nevertheless after watching and analyzing both movies
that is Divergent and Hunger games we will definitely
figure out that they have used the same concept. Even
though the story is different, but still the comparison is
crystal clear.
