Researched built-in import facility to load 18,000 referring agents into AMS agency management system.
Worked two weekends, backed up SQL till test found data correct.
Project charter was automated entry of >18,000 policies from legacy systeminto AMS360.
Planning included: research with AMS Custom team, expert advice from DBA on loading two levels of
customers.
Executed the plan my formatting Lotus dBase IV data into seven Excel spreadsheets matching AMS360
import criteria so that keys and foreign keys could be matched and relationships created automatically
during import.
Monitored and Controlled expected values caused four reloads of data until expected values achieved in
testing.
Vertafore Custom team imported CSV files and test results confirmed accuracy. Closing included payment
and sign-off to Vertafore team. This completed import of legacy policies, customers and referring
customers.
DBA was contracted from Vertafore customteam to allow for unique need for dual level customer
relationship.
Project: Create AC Newsletter with Embedded Referral History

Built MS Access application to integrate report data with newsletter content.
Changed the platform from extraction of data to a common newsletter that showed referral activities, with
customized printing for each individual recipient.
Developed prototypes that divided newsletters into two types:single and multiple page reports.Model and
plan were approved.
Executed the plan by building access menu, two sided 11 x 17 data merging reports and multi and single
page newsletters templates in MS Word.

Project: Manual Load of 18,000 Legacy Insurance Policies

Vertafore (vendor) asked to manually enter 18,000 customers, even though AC executives insisted it must
be automated. President intervened when 40% error rate and insisted the database be wiped clean and an
automated method found. Vertafore found a way to automate this.
Charter was given by CFO/CEO to automate entry of 18,000 policies.
Tenaciously pursued otheroptions with CEO's help. New plan: automated import of legacy data using
multiple Excel spreadsheets and customrelationship on import by Vertafore DBA.
Project: Make Decision AMS360 vs. Applied Systems Agency Management Software
Systems Analysis, Proof of Concept
Evaluated top two insurance software companies, Vertafore and Applied Systems. Tested demo copies of
software against current business model.
Charter was to fit square peg in a round hole, to "adapt" insurance agency software that was not a "good
fit", to match our unique agency business model. Plan was to ask 4 carriers to recommend software.
AMS360 and applied systems were suggested, combined 80% of US market. Found three options,from
research, sales reps and techs.Each was executed and tested,monitored and controlled.
Met with stakeholders on deliverable for master and sub solutions.Constructed marketing changes,at both
the insured and referral levels. Purchase Decision: Rejected applied EPIC as incomplete software.
Project: Customization of Lotus Approach/MS Access and Custom Bridges

Software took six months and managed all accounting,subscribers and cash summary and detail reports.
Customizations requirement were written to allow for “bridging” data to all major carrier real-time rating
products.
VB.NET Bridges written by Programmer included progressives “XML Bridge” to 43 states,Titan/Victoria
“CSV bridges” to 24 states and EzyLynx data matching for Dairyland.

Wrote all major Lotus (dBase IV) applications including, systems to record insurance quotes and sales,
marketing contacts, executive forecasting dashboard and ad hoc reports.
Wrote in dBase IV all screens,reports and tables needed to run major insurance company. IBM’s statement
of direction not to support 64-bit processing on new releases forced search for new agency software.
DBase IV customizations were made to create 70 database tables and systems including, quoting,referring
agents,employee master, time clock, phone lists, vendorcontacts and outage tracking. Custom ad-hoc
reports included sales crosstabs and customerquarterly referral reports (MS Access).
