2. The name of the two main actors are placed on the screen by itself this
links to celebrity endorsement and creates excitement. This links to
Maslow's social empathy as people want to be part of a group in todays
society. It also links to gratifications information as it satisfy curiosity
and enables fans to know who the stars are in the film. This inspired
me when making my trailer as I put the names of the actors on in the
movie.
3. The words ‘In the heart of Paris’ link to narrative theory as they tell the story
of the film. The low key lighting creates mystery and links to Roland Bathes
enigma code this is because we can see the words whilst being able to see
the shadows of the motor cycles in the background, this creates ambiguity
as we want to see why they’re on motor cycles and what is happening in
Paris. This inspired me with my own trailer as I added words like ‘ One City’
in order to create ambiguity and excited.
4. The words ‘A Brett Ratner Film’ adds more endorsement as Brett
Ratner is known for his successful films such as Paid In Full, Tower
Heist & Horrible Bosses. Therefore, people who are fans of these
films will be interested in watching this film as they will have high
expectations of his quality. I was inspired by this and decided to
put the name of my production company in the opening sequences.
5. Male gaze is used in the scene this is because a very seductive and
beautiful female is un top of one main characters of the film. This
is because males will want to be in the same position as the male
in film and because there is some eye candy in the film that they
will be able to look at. This inspired me as I realised that I would
have to put attractive females in my trailer in order to enhance a
male viewing.
6. This scene links to gratifications entertainment as we see the
two main characters enjoying themselves rather than just being
involved in action. It shows the comedic part of film and makes
the audience relax therefore creating a balancing the action and
comedy and helping the audience understand the characters
personalities. This helped me with my own trailer as I was
included calmer shots rather than just action.
7. This scene is an establishing shot, it shows us as an audience
where the film will be shot and adds mystery as we are unaware of
what film the trailer is for at the time. We are able to see the
Eiffel Tower showing us that the film is set in Paris. This inspired
me as I used establishing shots of London before the action to
create excitement.
8. This scene links the synthetic personalisation, it creates a
fake relationship between the fans and the actors of the film.
Fans of the film are likely to participate in the competition in
order to win tickets to the premier in order to meet the stars
of the film. This makes them feel like they’re actually part of
the film when in reality they are not.
9. Action is shown in this film and some mystery as well. We are
unable to see who is riding to motor cycle making the audience
more interested in who the rivalry is between. This inspired me
with my own movie as I decided not to show who the enemy was.
Roland Bathes enigma code shows us that creating mystery
intrigues the audience even more.
