Play hard learn harder: The Serious Business of Play
Blade runner analysis
1. It starts off with white text on a black background, which
goes through all the stars in the film, the sound track is
non diegetic as it moves through the beat, you can then
hear bangs this is done to attract he audiences attention
and to create an enigma of what the bang could be.
2. The narrative is established through
the roll up text, which is a typical
convention of a science fiction film,
it also shows toderrovs theory
through the equilibrium ( They
created the replicants, the
replicants went wrong, they kill the
replicants).
3. It then gives the audience a date and a time, and then goes to a show of a city, from telling the audience before hand the audience immediately
know where it is and when it is. it also answers the enigma of what the banging sounds are, with the use of a wide angle show it shows the
audience that this is happening throughout the city therefore its sets the genre as a dystopian future or the begging of one, the shot is very dark,
relining on the lights from buildings and the explosions to light up the scene, bring forth the darkness of the future, both literally and
metaphorically.
Explosions happen simultaneously on opposite sides of the scene which helps keep the views attention and keeps them interested. the non
diegetic sound of the sound tracks gets louder to show that something is about to happen as it builds up.
4. Its then does a shot reverse shot to show what the person's eye is looking
at. As it zooms into the structure it cuts to a in a room, this would make the
audience assume that the man is in a room that is inside the structure, this
is the first character that the audience are introduced to.
