2. Holy Water
Here we see what looks
like a bird bath with a
bowl of water in the
middle.
This is one of many Holy
Water station through out
the church. people use
this as a way of blessing
themselves before they
enter the church. Usually
by dipping there hand in
the Holy Water followed
by making the sign of the
Cross.
3. CHURCH PEWS
Here we see rows of
wooden benches.
This is where the
Parishioners sit during
mass. There are kneelers
under the benches so you
don’t have to kneel on the
hard floor. There are
usually books on the ends
of the pews to use to sing
and follow along with the
Mass.
4. Pipe Organ
Here we see many pipes reaching towards the ceiling. This is
were music comes from for mass. This is also where the choir
sings from. Catholic churches often have pipe organs. We can
also see a stained glass window in the background.
5. Confession Booth
Here we see two
doors in wooden
inlay. There is a red
light bulb that will
turn on when the
confessional booth is
in use. If you enter
inside you would see
a kneeler and wall
with screen that is not
see through.
6. Stations of the Cross
This is were people pray and see how
Jesus was Condemned, crucified and
buried. There are 14 station that you pray
at. Each Station has a different prayer.

7. The Altar
Here we see the Altar were Priest prays and turns bread and wine into the body
and blood of Christ. There are three chairs behind the altar. The Priest sits in the
middle chair and the altar boys are on the side. Two candles have to be lit during
the mass to represent Jesus. There always have to be candles on or beside the
altar in a Catholic church.
8. LECTERN
Here we see the lectern
were the 1st and 2nd
readings from Gospels
are read. This is also
where the Priest will give
his homily. The lectern is
raised off the ground
about three feet. This
helps the person
speaking be better seen
by the audience. In the
background you can see
Mother Mary.
9. Baptismal Pool
This is a pool of Holy
Water that has been
blessed by the Priest. In
this pool you can be
fully submerged.
Baptism is what is
believe to absolve you
from Original Sin.
The P and X is a symbol
used to represent the
word Christ. “Chi-rho”
10. JESUS ON
THE CROSS
In this photo we see Jesus
on the cross. His hands and
feet are nailed to the cross.
He is wearing a crown of
thorns with a message
nailed above him which
reads, “Jesus of Nazareth
king of the Jews.” There is
always a crucifix with Jesus
at the front of every
Catholic church.
11. Tabernacle
This is where it is believed
the Holy Spirit of Jesus rest.
There is a kneeler in front
of the Tabernacled to pray
for healing or what ever
you need. This Tabernacle
has an engraving of a
chalice and bread with sun
rays. This is to represent
the Body and Blood of
Jesus.
