2. Father Jeff Fasching is a Catholic Priest in Oklahoma who
offers traditional Mass services to the people of Tulsa,
outside of his teaching work.
Traditional Catholic Mass is referred to as a church service
in general, which is what Father Jeff Fasching oversees. In
some contexts it can mean a certain type of ceremony, but
many times it is in reference to a church service.
First, the priest enters and greets the people, then does his
prayer of absolution and the introductory rites are closed by
the collect prayer. On Sundays, the service includes three
Scripture readings - from the Old Testament, and then
followed by a psalm. There is sometimes singing and lit
candles throughout the body of the service.
3. After this section, the Liturgy of the Eucharist
begins, which involves preparation of gifts as a
form of sacrifice to God. The main part of this
ritual is the Consecration, in which the priest and
the churchgoers recall Jesus' words and actions at
the Last Supper.
The people then recite the Lord's Prayer, and then
the attendees come up to receive the body and
blood of Christ. The body and blood are
represented by wafers and wine. The mass is
concluded with a rite and a blessing.
