EXPERIENCE
Creative Technology Assistant in 3D Printing, Brown University September 2018 – May 2019
• Held weekly technical training for students and faculties to access Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printers
• Conducted regular workshop sessions in 3D modeling with Tinkercad, Onshape, Fusion 360, and Meshmixer
• Provided one-on-one consultations to assist students and faculties on their projects and troubleshooted hardware issues
Digitization Product Engineer, Schneider Electric June – August 2018
• Researched and developed 4 new Internet-of-Things (IoT) solutions for machine tracking and monitoring as a value-
added service to upgrade the current business offering and unlock the untapped market opportunities
• Designed and built a portable IoT device prototype in collaboration with marketing, software, and hardware specialists
• Built a product development plan and roadmap after identifying the requirements of resource and time of each task
• Collected and analyzed data from the prototype to evaluate the performance and improved the design iteratively
• Successfully established and tested an IoT network that connected the machines to the cloud by the prototype device
• Completed the proof-of-concept phrase in time and satisfied all functional and other requirements under the budget
Assistant Engineer, JHS Environment Technologies June – August 2017
• Prepared technical documents for the chief technical officer before attending business meetings and conferences
• Designed the deployment of the water treatment systems to result in the most efficient water quality improvement
• Performed profitability assessment and drafted technical documents for 2 prospective bidding applications
Manufacturing Engineer, Taihe Printed Circuit Board June – August 2015
• Investigated the factors that caused the recent drop in productivity by surveying managers from each production process
• Analyzed and proposed viable solutions to the engineering executives to help improve the productivity and efficiency
• Carried out improvement including updating PLC programs and conducting replacements for underperformed devices
ENGINEERING PROJECTS
Major Qualifying Project (MQP): Soft Robotic Actuators & Control Systems, WPI September – May 2018
• Worked on a team of 4; researched, designed, and manufactured a pneumatically powered FGM actuator that was
structurally simpler than conventional soft actuators, but yielded noticeable outputs in force and displacement relatively
• Designed components on SolidWorks, operated tensile tests on Instron, performed finite element analyses on Abaqus
• Designed and built a gesture-controlled object distribution system including a gripper assembled with the actuators, a
robotic arm, a digital pneumatic system, and a gesture controller (patent CN107485864A) from a previous personal project
• Won the ASM International MQP Competition and the 2nd
Place in the WPI Mechanical Engineering MQP Competition
Design of Wind Turbine Main Shaft and Tower, WPI February – March 2016
• Worked on a team of 3; designed the shaft and tower components to meet expected criteria and expected lifetime through
shear and bending analysis, buckling analysis, fatigue failure analysis, and verified the design with ANSYS
LEADERSHIP
Vice President and Treasurer, Chinese Student Association, WPI January 2016 – May 2018
• Led a board of 14 executives, redesigned all of the existed programs to become more open to all students regardless of
their cultural and language background and increased registered members by 71%
• Increased the approval rate of the annual budget by 33%, and increased the net available balance by 59%
