Day 1/ Session 1: The Elements of Fiction
I. Learning Objectives:
a. understand the definition and characteristics of
each element of fiction (plot, character, setting,
point of view, and theme)

Energizer: Vocabulary Building
B. Review: The teacher will provide a brief
overview of the student's understanding
acquired during the previous session
regarding poetry.
C. Drill: The teacher will present the 4 Pics
One Word game to the students, organizing
them into three groups. Subsequently,
images will be displayed on the screen, and
the students will be encouraged to deduce
the characteristics of the pictures.
D. Lesson Proper (3 I’S):
Introduction: The teacher will present a
short video and will ask these questions:
a. What makes a work fiction? Or drama?
Or poetry?
b. What delineates one genre from the
other?
c. If one is interested to write poetry, how
can he or she say that it indeed is poetry?
These exciting questions will be
answered as you go this lesson where
you will be acquainted with the elements
of the aforementioned genres.
Interaction: The teacher will introduce
the literary elements to the class.
Discuss the topic and ask some
examples in each element from the
students.

A. Preparatory Activities: Prayer,

Energizer: Unlocking of Difficult Words
B. Review: The teacher will provide a
concise overview of the student's
understanding gained in the previous
session regarding the Elements of Fiction.
C. Drill: The teacher will select students at
random to respond to a question about the
material, assessing their retention of
previous lessons.
2. D. Lesson Proper
Interaction: The class is set to engage in a
collaborative exercise named "Act Me Out."
The instructor will organize the students into
five separate groups. Each group will be
tasked with creating a brief dialogue
centered around specific topics assigned
within their respective groups. The students
will then designate individuals within their
group to assume the roles of each element of
fiction
A time limit of 10 minutes will be given to
each group for the construction of their short
dialogue.
Integration: The students will perform their
dialogues in front of the class. Each group
will nominate one representative to elucidate
their assigned communication roles, with a
three-minute time slot for this explanation.
Following the presentations, the teacher will
provide feedback on the activity.

B. Review: The teacher will provide a brief
overview of the student's understanding
gained during the initial session, covering the
topic elements of fiction.
C. Drill: The teacher will select students at
random to respond to a question about the
material, assessing their retention of
previous lessons.
D. Lesson Proper
Integration: The teacher will permit students
`to join their designated groups. Each group
will receive half a sheet of paper. They will
compose a summary of the topic or express
their comprehension gained from the
discussion. To foster active participation,
every group member is expected to share
their insights about the topic. Following this,
the group will select a spokesperson to
present their collective ideas to the entire
class.
IV. Evaluation:
Instructions: Watch the short video clip entitle
“Arachne” and answer the following questions. Write
it in a one whole sheet of long bond paper.
1. What do you think is the story of Arachne? Is it
Fiction?
2. Who are the characters of the story?
3. Where did the story take place?
4. How did the story start?
5. What was the conflict of the story?
6. What was the event that provoked Athena's
anger?
7. After the weaving competition, what happened to
Arachne?
8. How did Arachne live after she was turned into a
spider?
9. What's the story's theme and moral?
10. Why did Athena reveal herself as a goddess?
11. Why was Arachne turned into a spider?
12. If you were Arachne, what would you have done
to appease the anger of goddess Athena?
13. Have you been thankful for the talents and skills
that you have learned?

At the end of the period or day, give your students 2-
3 minutes to write down whatever comes to mind
about today’s lesson. You can prompt them to write
down everything they remember about the lesson, or
leave it vague and see what they write.
VI. Assignment:
In a one whole sheet of bond paper, retell the
story of Arachne using a graphic organizer.
