Assigned to UK location to help create a Sun (now Oracle) JCAPS, AIX/Oracle DB, middleware infrastructure to
replace existing Sun e*gate interface-based integration and to create an internal services group for providing
middleware technology services. Led Java middleware development for all UK requirements. Directed teams of
up to 42 Java developers in India, 16 in the UK, and additional members in the US. Planned and administered a
$1.5 million group budget. Tracked progress on projects, oversaw change management functions, and managed
relationships between new Middleware Support and Service & Incident Management teams. Created “best
practice” documents for both Java and JCAPS and negotiated acceptance with development vendors. Wrote a
number of complex infrastructure monitoring Korn shell scripts so problems are recognized and fixed before
customers become aware.

Created Integration Centre of Excellence that eliminated problems in production support costs and quality of
implementations. Facilitated 60% reduction in development costs and 90% decrease in RTB costs for the
integration layer, with new estimation process resulting in zero late/over-budget projects.
Established 8-AIX-server middleware infrastructure across 4 UK data centers, 3-server test/development
environment for middleware, development standards, processes and procedures, and 24x365 production
support group. ICoE servers currently handle 746+ integrations across 18 business units.
Reduced support resources from 10 to 2 following establishment of a production support group and
conversion of 24 applications to the new middleware platform; increased software reuse, quality of
software, and hardware reuse to achieve abovementioned results.
Played key role in delivering code on time for Traffic Management Act project (mandatory govt. deadline
with a potential $1M per day penalty) within 10 weeks, with National Grid signified as the only natural gas
distribution company to achieve on-time deployment as well as winning an award for the achievement.
