PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Avnet Inc.- Chandler, AZ Jan 2015 – Aug 2016

PineBreeze Technologies- Chandler, AZ Nov 2014 – Jan 2015
Sr. Network Engineer
• Performed Networking of Third Party Vendors to the bank and managed third party
relationships with the bank.
• Provisioned high speed Internet links for the bank and third parties and coordinated with the
site owner for the circuit turn-ups.
• Rack and stacked third party equipment and inventoried equipment along with managed
software licensing of the network equipment.
• Responsible for deploying and maintaining "3rd party vendors" equipment on GE Capital
Finance aka Synchrony Bank's hosted network in the Chandler Arizona data center.
• These "3rd party vendors" were / are other banks such as Visa, MasterCard, Chase Bank, Etc.
who placed their own Cisco routers / switches / servers on GE's/Synchrony's network for the
purpose of Bank-to-Bank financial transactions and for sharing of consumer credit data as well.
• Responsible for provisioning these 3rd parties' high speed Internet connections from various
telecom service providers. I.E. Time Warner, AT&T, Verizon, etc. and end-to-end connectivity via
these links, and quality of service: From the wiring at the DeMarc, to the framing of data on the
router, to the addressing of their equipment on our network.
• Lastly, I made sure our security was up to PCI, HIPPA, et al standards including the Federal
government's "tapping" of ALL transactions without creating security risks, as well as N+1
redundancy so that even multiple points of failure would not bring our network down.
• I left this job on good terms for a better career type position at Avnet.
3. Independent Contractor- Tempe, AZ 2008-2015
• Performed contract IT networking support and resolved numerous Windows desktop support
and Linux Server service issues. Serviced everything from Windows XP / 7 / 8 desktops to
Windows server 2003, 2008 servers running email and active directory services, to basic file
servers. Linux servicing, from DNS server adding zones, to full Sendmail or Qmail deployments.
• Deployed and wired high-speed gigabit networks using Cisco ISR routers, Catalyst Switches and
PIX or ASA Firewalls, and MCS VoIP systems / servers. Additionally, I have installed mixed
networks using some Cisco components and preserving existing Avaya PBX systems - where
possible. Predominantly deployed Cisco networking equipment. Network deployments are
customer driven, by their needs and economic cost versus benefits. Therefore, where possible,
Avaya, Lucent, and MCS PBX systems were reconfigured and kept in production.
• Firewall rule architecting: Many were simple web, email and VoIP configurations using Cisco ISR
or ASA Firewalls, including VPN endpoints. Some firewall implementations using IP tables on
Linux systems as an alternative to commercial, off-the-shelf firewalls. Recovery of previous
firewall’s rule-set, to convert to newer Cisco firewalls using Cisco’s Enterprise tools.
• Provisioned numerous T1 phone lines, Cox Business Cable, or Qwest Business DSL lines, as well
as consumer installations. Primarily these high-speed lines were connected to, or hosting
FQDN’s (Fully Qualified Domain Names) and had their own DNS servers.
• Installed and serviced several Security Camera systems: From simple off-the-shelf four camera
setups, to large 24 concurrent cameras recording on a single networked computer, which
streamed video to private, remote locations for monitoring and storage.
• Uninterruptible power supply capacity design and installation for everything from a few pieces
of equipment to the entire server room. Anything critical to the business’s operations having
backup power, from a rack-mount battery to a subsequent failover to generators.
• Longer contract examples are listed below, such as Column5 Consulting and Local Motors,
where the contract was 3 months onsite.
Column5 Consulting- Scottsdale, AZ Aug 2013 – Dec 2013
Sr. Network Engineer
• Completely overhauled the office network from the ground up, absolutely nothing worked
correctly at the beginning of the project, and at the project’s conclusion everything worked
flawlessly.
• Designed, implemented a Cisco based TCP/IP converged network using the current Cisco models
of equipment, migrating from a SOHO router/firewall. The migration being a mix of phones and
computers, as a complete converged network of Voice, Data, and Video.
• Provisioned and deployed a 30 Megabit Internet connection, migrating from the previous pair of
T1 phone lines. The ping return times improved from 500ms to 50ms, and half the amount of
hops. Additionally, this was implemented after-hours to not interrupt the office workers
connection or ability to work.
• Ran 2000 feet of CAT6 wire, jacks, and a new patch panel, allowing the entire office to have true
Gigabit Ethernet to the desktop to “future proof” the office as needs and standards change over
the foreseeable future. Every drop was traced and labeled so the next person can easily
understand the network without explanation. Every desktop had a VoIP phone and laptop, and
all the drops went to two switches, that were setup with Cisco’s “switch fabric” connections so if
either switch failed, the network stayed up.
• Converted the entire office to static IP addresses, migrated everyone from WiFi to Wired Gigabit
Ethernet. Separate drops to each desk to separate the VOIP phone network from the data
network so that failures can’t cascade into a complete outage.
4. • Provided reports on the existing Avaya phone server, and engineered future rollout scenarios
that were being proposed by management. EG. A VOIP network to another country would be as
simple as provisioning the phone line in that country and a few lines of code input into the
router would be all that is needed to upgrade.
• Fixed every bad IP address, setup VPN remote access. Managed the local Windows-2003 servers
that provided DHCP services to the guests using Wifi or the employee’s cellular phones.
• Managed the Avaya VOIP server, and seamlessly migrated the phones to the new Cisco Layer-3
switches after hours, so that there was no interruption in phone service, in addition to the
Internet. Additionally, the switches were properly “stacked” so that in the event of a failure, one
of the two switches can power the other.
• Wrapped up the project by providing a complete concierge service to the employees by setting
up every network resource, such as printers, scanners, and faxing. So everyone in the office was
setup for the maximum efficiency possible.
• Lastly, provided “in the cloud” backup service to the employees so in the event of a failure or
virus, no work would be lost.
Local Motors- Chandler, AZ Mar 2013 – July 2013
Electrical Engineer
• Designed basic introductory Arduino electronics class for community members.
• Designed, prototyped and implemented an RFID car starter and controller using an Arduino
which allowed for individualized rule settings for each RFID card.
• Designed and prototyped an automotive relay circuit board which allowed for different
processors to be directly connected to the vehicle’s wire harness. Designed an LCD touchscreen
double-DIN stereo head unit to facilitate internet connectivity, maps and a built in OBD-II
scanner all while featuring the standard features one expects from a modern car stereo.. The
scanner eliminated the need of a mechanic to read codes from the vehicle’s ECU by directly
reading out the codes to the user on the screen.
• Designed, prototyped and built a cellular 3G plus GPS remote control with VGA camera which
allows the user to track the vehicle on Google maps, take a picture of the driver, remotely start
or stop the car, operate the windows, and lock and unlock the doors or trunk.
• Managed the community of users on the companies’ website.
