2. You should have a large catalogue of
research which you now need to condense
I have created this guide to remind you f the
key things to consider when selecting sources
3. Look closely at the piece of research –when
placed with all the other research is it
useful?
What does it tell you?
Can you justify using it?
4. Ensure you have research from a range of
sources e.g. journals, text books and
internet sites. Some of the film magazines
have fantastic info in too!
Is it a valid source?
This shows that you have consulted a range
of sources which adds strength to any
findings you make.
5. Where applicable try to include a range of
both primary and secondary research
Mix of qualitative and quantitative data. Have
the stats and figures to support opinions.
6. In most cases it is important to show that you
have both contemporary (within the last 5
years) and historic research – when creating
your final list make sure you don’t only end
up with historic research (unless applicable)
7. This s so important and the area people fall
down on. I know it is a pain but get it right
now and it will save you so much work in the
future.
