Independent Research Task
Now that you have a good understanding of what is a post modern text and have been shown a
number of examples it is your turn to choose a film text. Your homework task for Easter is to pick
and research a post modern film text produced the past five years. IT is due to be handed in 13th
April. At this level you are expected to be doing about 5 hours per week (outside of class) for each
subject and this is what I expect you to do for this project.
You will need to:
Watch your chosen text
Find out about the ‘how and why’ of your text (Production details)
Explore the critical reception of the text.
You will also need to apply all the theories and ideas we have looked at so far to the text.
You can highlight how it fits with these ideas and how it does not.
You will need to include some detailed textual analysis of your text – specific scenes need to
be analysed, possibly with YouTube clip or screen grabs.
Finally make a judgement about how post modern the text is and explain why
