2. Previous Research
As you can see from my first slide, I graduated with my BSW, which is a Bachelor’s degree
in social work. I figured that I would use my skills learned from this Bachelor’s degree to
work with a variety of populations in something I am very passionate about, which is
athletics, exercise science, and nutrition.
The last research paper that I wrote was about the effects of stimulating activities and one
on one interaction with dementia patients who experience the symptoms of “sundowning”.
Here is my poster.
3. Future Research
If I had to choose a research topic today, I would choose to concentrate my
research on:
-Differences in recovery time for injury between adolescents and adult.
-Differences in dietary needs for teenage athletes versus middle age athletes
-Difference in dietary needs between collegiate runners, male versus female.
4. Presentation Experience
As part of class requirements, I have given numerous in-class presentations on a
variety of topics, and have also led class discussions.
At the end of my junior and senior year of undergrad, I gave a presentation on my
experiences at my internships at the time to my peers, their families, and my
professors.
5. Expectations
-To help me get a wider knowledge base on exercise science concepts.
-Strengthen my background in conducting research.
-To better prepare in obtaining my Master’s degree.
6. Biography
-I currently work at Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Centers as an aide in
Watertown, CT. Working there for the past three years is what sparked my interest
in exercise science and sports nutrition.
-I was a D3 field hockey player all four years at WNEU (Go Bears!)
-I am 22 years old, and I am the oldest of 19 grandchildren on my father’s side of
the family (we’re Italian, so that is self explanatory).
-My plan is to eventually work with student athletes (preferably collegiate athletes)
as a strength and conditioning coach, as well as a nutritional consultant.
