1. Ascend is an intensive outpatient program for adults that integrates Adapted Dialectical Behavior Therapy
(A-DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Both models utilize mindfulness and acceptance
skills to help clients “build a life worth living.” Clients are treated respectfully and are viewed as being
temporarily stuck as opposed to inherently broken. Clients learn how to make room for and change their
underlying relationship with painful thoughts and emotions. Although the primary focus of therapy is not
on symptom reduction, it is often a natural by-product of pursuing our deepest values and taking effective
action towards cultivating a vibrant and meaningful life. You are worth it.
Adapted Dialectical Behavior Therapy:
A-DBT was created by Marsha Linehan and teaches clients distress tolerance, emotional regulation,
mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness skills.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy:
ACT was developed by Steven Hayes and teaches clients skills of contacting the present moment, defusion,
acceptance, self-as-context, values, and committed action.
Program Details:
• 12 weeks in duration
• Groups meet 3 days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursdays)
• 12:00 – 3:00pm (includes skill development and therapeutic application group)
• Psychiatric Medication Management
• Individual Therapy
Program Therapist: Jason Tharaldson, LMFT
Jason is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who joined PrairieCare in 2014. He
has over 15 years of diverse experience which spans most levels of care and age groups.
Jason is warm, empathic, and builds rapport quickly with both adults and children. He
is authentic and remains therapeutically curious while he encourages clients to delve
beneath the surface and explore the underlying dynamics of a problem. Jason is most
passionate about helping his clients (re)discover their inherent strengths, recover their
unique abilities, build meaningful relationships, and cultivate a more satisfying life.
