Editor's Notes
Existential Therapy is the base for my theoretical approach. I feel as though progressing through the process described in existential therapy is something I hope to observe with each student.
Possible programming to help prepare students for interviews Offer a resume and cover letter construction as a multi part program of elective class What to wear to an interview could use 2 different approaches as a program using ppt with examples as a benefit fashion show using local retailers to show off their interview and work appropriate clothing The interview process go over what preparation needs to go into being ready for an interview Professional panel offer as a program where students can listen to active professionals good and bad interviewing experiences with an opportunity to ask questions
Since an REBT counselor mostly functions as a teacher this will work well for someone in a position like me. It offers quick solutions to current problems and arising problems or situations in the future. When it comes to student athletes there time outside of the classroom and athletics is limited. Time management is a key source in completing their degree successfully. Using REBT as a quick fix will most likely satisfy a student the most, they will learn how to resolve an issue that more then likely, will be reoccurring.
The process of using reality therapy is to have a friendly involvement, to explore their total behavior when they are experiencing issues, to evaluate their behavior, to make plans to do better in the situation, and make a commitment to the new plan. By making a plan we are helping the student have something to fall back on when they encounter a reoccurring situation they won’t feel helpless the next time the problem presents itself.
When a student reaches a goal they feel a sense of accomplishment. Using the supporting measures from each theory to get to this goal will be what helps in assisting different students in different situations. Most students are pressed for time and want to be able to retain how to get to the solution if the situation would arise again. I am and always want to be approachable, with the use of interactive theories I’m able to immediately establish a comfortable rapport with my student-athletes. I hope to be an open door counselor and the theoretical framework I’ve comprised supports that ambition.
