1. Personal Statement - Draft One
In our daily routines, media has a precise and foundational integrity that every one of us can depend
on. Ever since I began to interact with all different sorts of media as a child, I have developed an
unshakable passion for subjects to study at a higher level It only feels natural to indulge in my
passion even more.
All of media has always interested me as it inspired me to create my own story or narrative, it gave
me a way to express myself without paints and pencils. Media can be in any form and still be as
beautiful, It allows me to have more of an open mind and not trapped by codes and conventions or
at lead push past them.
Over the course of my media studies course, I have acquired a broad range of media-related skills.
Most of the course is spent actively producing our own media products, which can range from
photography, posters, and adverts to documentaries. As a result, I have learned Photoshop and
other editing software as well as the codes and conventions utilized by various genres. I can now
confidently analyse media texts while providing creative and unique insight.
I am not stranger in responsibility as I help care for my younger siblings alongside work experience,
film production group and completing college work on time. I am used to mulit-tasking on multiple
projects at a time and this has helped me to become more dependable and more organized with my
work and time. For work experience I helped with 4 events every week while creating social media
posts and website posts to inform more of the audience what the events can be beneficial to them.
At college I was lucky enough to be able to do work experience with Washington art centre which
helped me to refine my skills in media production as they wanted many different forms of media
created for their company such as blog posts, events post, a documentary and short video content,
this has really helped with my confidence with creating media products and seeing how the public
reacts to the posts and content. I also had to opportunity to work with Alistair cummings a northeast
director and producer in creating a short horror film to enter in festivals apart of work experience
but from his workshops they have gave a lot more knowledge of post-production but also the media
industry.
